She may be just training there? Kozuka is training there too?. I think Camerlengo's choreo may suit Akiko?

I think so too. Looking forward to hearing about the new programs from skaters.

Well all her choreos last year were by Team Camerlengo (Kriyova SP, Camerlengo FP, Scali Ex) and they seemed to suit her just perfectly.

    From her Blog

I'd love to see Gracie skate to Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella Waltz. It's just made for big jumps. Ah well...

R&H's entire Cinderella score is gorgeous from top to bottom. :swoon: Wish it was used more often in skating!

I don't know anything about Sandhu's programs but Lorna Brown used to choreograph for Kevin van der Perren (she did the competitive programs for his final season).

Please name three recent programs choreographed by Julie Marcotte that "look exactly alike."

Are you referring to complete programs or to some signature "Marcotte-invented" moves within programs.

I love this photo! I'd love to have a copy blown up. Two great artists of figure skating. :) Thanks for posting. (Can anyone tell who the female skater is in the background?)

Here's a guess as to who the choreographer(s) might have been ;) via Jorik Hendrickx's tweeted photo a few days ago: http://instagram.com/p/Zb2oUpvNKl/

Canada's Alaine Chartrand tweeted 2 days ago:
"So excited about my new programs! Thank you so much Jeff Buttle and David Wilson! :) #amazing"

Um, you basically described most competitive skating between the years of 1980-2004.

My post from the Max Aaron thread:

This part makes me quite curious. What version would leave one in doubt as to the source music?

There was a modern jazz take on Carmen in the late 1950s:

The late Argentinian musician Waldo De Los Rios did an arrangement of selections from Carmen for piano and orchestra (but it's less than 4 minutes):

So did someone in the skating world finally discover "Carmen: A Hip Hopera"?

I would definitely love to see Gracie perform to that. I would also love to see Gracie perform to something like this as her exhibition program. It's fun, has pizzazz and I believe Gracie could bring the song to life ... make it work for her.

The "modern" Carmen could just be crossover artist David Garrett's version of it. I remember it seemed to go back and forth between a strict classical version and techno.

From the Rohene Ward article Sylvia linked to in a previous thread (http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130521&content_id=48189698&vkey=ice_news ), I found links to his SP and LP music.

    Din Da Da (SP): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5l7_Zu2AQyQ

    Weather Storm (LP): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SxhzWZrGmg

The SP music is a lot of fun - I look forward to seeing what he does with that. The LP doesn't seem to have a lot of variation to it (a bit too new agey for my taste) but it depends on how it's cut, I suppose.

I like David Garrett's classical/rock fusion music...I hope it's this rather than the hip-hop stuff.

^^ Thanks for the link. Mutual admiration society. :) I love Akiko -- she has such wonderful, joyous energy. I can't say enough about my admiration for The Robin Cousins and The Jeremy Abbott -- and I can't wait to see what their collaboration has wrought!

Din Da Da -- OMG, I don't recall ever hearing of Kevin Aviance; his styling is shades of RuPaul, and his performance and music are deliciously and infectiously fun. :) :biggrinbo: Is there a happy jig icon? Can't wait to see what Rohene creates to this music.

In the below IN article about Rohene, his student to the far left reminds me of Aly Raisman. And Rohene himself ... wow, another visual transformation. Looks like he's gone from bushy Afro and goatee to channeling a bit of Rihanna hairstyling, while maintaining his goatee.

    http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130521&content_id=48189698&vkey=ice_news

So happy for Rohene that he's feeling happy, re-energized and inspired from his touring show experiences, and that he's still loving and growing from his coaching, choreographing, and finding ways to fully express himself and inspire others. Thank you Rohene for all you do and all that you are. Good luck, God Bless, Godspeed!!!

Christopher Caluza reveals his sp music: Jumpin' Jack by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
    http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130521&content_id=48160754&vkey=ice_news

Eclectic mix in so many ways, with a Filipino-American skating for The Philippines (a country whose residents are characterized as Austronesian with a heavily Hispanicized culture due to being a colony of Spain for over 300 years); Caluza will skate to nuevo-swing music by a Cab Calloway-inspired California band (founded by a former punk/ alternative rock musician); the band's name (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) was fittingly albeit inadvertently coined by legendary blues guitarist, Albert Collins.

Good luck to Chris for the coming season!
