I love Danse Macabre. Among those who have done it: Yu na and Timothy Goebel.
Ten could be a surprise winner of the gold imo.
Yukina Ota is another.
Definitely great music for both sp and lp combined with a wonderful skater! Now, if the choreo and performances indeed live up to that exciting combination ...
Nicol seems to pick less used music pieces for skaters who she feels have greater artistic potential, such as Carolina Kostner, and now Denis Ten. And the results are usually beautiful
And Jenny Kirk...
Here is Timothy's SP from the 2002 Olympics.
Kiri Baga's Dance Macabre:
It seems that virtually everyone skated to it at some point!
oh, how i loved dytrts danse macabre. she was so much more willing to attack under folle (and tarasovas choreo) and this program suited her much better than this slow programs towards the end of her career.
shame both parted ways, this collaboration should have needed some more time.
danse macabre and tocatta et fugue are my all time favourite programes of her
Lady and the Hooligan Mukhortova
Then Lori seems to think that Kostner suddenly lost her artistic potential because Sheherazade is one of the most frequently used pieces of music in figure skating. But I really don't care because Nichol has intellectual depth and pays a lot of attention to detail, so I am sure Carolina will skate a great program.
Federica Testa/Lukas Csolley have announced their Free Dance music: The Addams Family
SP: Send in the clowns
FS: Adios Nonino
Yuna Kim's new program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SP: Send in the clowns
LP: Adios Nonino
Those.... are really strong choices.
Super excited! I'm sure that anything she'll do will be amazing!
I'm so thrilled about these choices!!! Another tango from Yuna, yay!!!
I hope she uses Lu Chen's recording, and not Lepisto's.
Lepisto's were OK, not as great as Buttle's.
Who else did Send In the Clowns besides Harding and Rippon?
Savchenko&Szolkowy's is my favorite.
Thank you. Here's a source link: http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/culturesports/2013/08/26/0702000000AEN20130826003400315.html
I enjoyed Garrett Gosselin's "Send in the Clowns" SP at BC SummerSkate earlier this month: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/37350693
I'm hoping Yu Na Kim's SP segues into Tony Loc's "Wild Thing".
Can someone recommend a really good recording of Adios Nonino? I'm only familiar with the piece through Lu Chen's SP, and let's just say it was sort of underwhelming. I'm sure Kim will have great edits.
I love this version, performed at the Dutch royal wedding in 2002 - it's beautiful and very moving (though I can't imagine it's available for use by skaters...)
I like Send in the Clowns for Yuna, but I'm not sold on Adios Nonino for her.

Thanks to Harding, I permanently associate these two pieces of music together...
The composer is seen playing the bandoneon himself. He apparently rewrote the music in less than an hour as an homage to his father who passed away days ago. The look and his glossy eyes at the end really kills me. Quite an emotional tango about paternity love and farewell.
Definately my favorite too, great program !
Can't wait till we get to see their new SP.
