It's that time of year again and the show is broadcast as usual on Monday and Tuesday night on Irish TV.

    Here are this year's Roses.

Bring on the softshoe reels to the theme tune of "Dallas", bad poetry and singing! :cheer:

The QVC shopping channel used to broadcast LIVE from the event every year.
That's how I learned about it.

How Irish do you have to be for this competition? I looked at the application form, and all it states is "One of your ancestors" need to be born in Ireland. How far back can you push it-an single ancestor in the fifteenth century? Or maybe it has to be a grandparent? Or do they really care?

I'm just wondering here- I wouldn't qualify anyway, having no Irish ancestry at all.

Denver seems to have a Finnish name (maybe an Irish mother?)

I don't think they care all that much how far back your ancestors goes. If my niece wanted to do this, she'd have to go back to around 1850 to find someone who lived in Ireland though She'd fit right in as our last name is very Irish.

new orleans rose just gave a sort of half hearted shimmy dance, not meant to be done or seen sober

Feirm Factor (feirm is the Irish for farm)

Watched the roses last night (and fast forwarded through the "talent" segments :scream: ) and they were a bit of a disappointing crop. Don't think we've seen the winner. Let's hope tonight is better

It probably doesn't bear it, but here's some "analysis" on what it takes to win from the contest.

dont you think kerry has a chance being that she's local, she's a dr and her father died in the last 12 mo which probably made for a better story than germany's randy air hostess stories?

You sure learn interesting things like the Ontario rose whose family had 400 acres and 40 dairy cows. I live in Wisconsin, 40 dairy cows would rank as a hobby, they could get by with 80.

The singing is painful. Perth just murdered "songbird". No wonder her mother is crying. :scream:

Tyrone was sporting ringlets in one of her introductory photos so I'm guessing we're going to get some irish dancing.

And more morbid dead Rose stories tonight. :yikes:
