Who cares what the music is. It all going to come down to Zueva's usual "choreography".
David Wilson choreographed his long program, to Italian opera La Boheme.
Chan's LP is 'Puccini's Opera' ver.
ummm... sounds to me like Tessa and Scott WANTED to skate to it. I am really glad that they did. It must be a burden to NEVER be able to skate to music you like just because its been used before. Kudos to them. I'm sure it will be a great number
Excited to see P/B take on the French Can-Can
I don't think they wanted to skate to it for years and years or anything.
Q&A with Tessa and Scott
PJ Kwong just tweeted that she uploaded the following video of Chan's press conference:
The last segment is where he speaks about his programs: his SP is a re-working of his Worlds exhibition -- he liked it so much he wanted to use it as a SP, he loved working with Buttle, and he feels like he has 1.5 new programs -- and he decided not to use "La Strada" for the FS because too many skaters were using it, and he's using "La Boheme" instead.
on the short, and for him being smart enough not to take on music that Takahashi used to beat him soundly at Worlds and Olympics.
Maybe they could use these versions
Nah the SD was Tchaikovskaia's idea along with Tracy Wilson's coach.
And it doesn't have to have been a lifelong dream for them - it is something that at this point they want to skate to.
Sometimes longtime fs fans forget that the skaters are young and don't have such a long term understanding of what music is used a great deal. They listen to music and choose what they want to skate to. And even among figure skating fans - there aren't even that many people who have this unwritten list of what songs are "overused".
Part of the reason these pieces of music are used so much is because they work well in a program and for much of the audience.
Then there are those who can use a piece of music that has been used many times before and make it so amazing you just think about watching them skate to it! Like Takahashi last year!
Meh, someone pick something unique, or at least less overused! Please?
V&M found a beautiful peace of waltz music, but using Carmen cancels it out.
It would indeed be a major let down if they only used the famous cuts.
Hopefully they could use or focus more on rarely used cuts, or some different variations. The version Butyrskaya used as exhibition in 2000 was wonderful, but probably not that suitable for dance. The cuts Kwan used in 1999 were nice and not used that often.
I think Marina has no clue what to do with them. She really lacks imagination and is recycling the same crap year on year, to a large extent.
