    Gachinski AND Plushenko! Great combination!

Plushenko vs Chan vs Gachinski vs Takahashi.

Wow. That's a strong battle right there.

Japan Open should be a great opportunity for Plushenko to stretch his legs again. I wouldn't be suprised to see him roll out some good artillery for that.

Can Japan Open be used towards a season's best, since it's ISU sanctioned?

Probably not because the skaters only perform a free skate.

I would rather oppose Chan and Takahashi
    and Artur and Evgeni
not all of them opposed to each other
as for now I, personally, don't see reasons to compare Artur and Patrik, for example.

Hmm, it would be interesting to see

Plushenko as well as Takahashi had less than stellar performances last year at The Japan Open and both were trounced by Adam Rippon who pulled off a 166+ score

I only wish that it could have been used towards a season's best for him. But it's more akin to a cheezefest.

I have also heard a rumor about the rule, but since the first year there was no such a year in which the "rule" was really implemented. There was always a team which is consisted only of eligible skaters.

Besides, it is not like they always beat teams with a pro.

Yes. There are a lot of fs fans interested in her and I'm sure the audience will be thrilled to get to see her live and the Mishin camp : she, Zhenya, Artur and probably Mr. (and Mrs?) Mishin.

Does anyone know if the source of the following post is reliable?

Kiira will skip Japan Open 2011

Wonder who's going to fill the spot.

I am not surprised about Plushenko. Didn't he recently have surgery? I can't imagine him skating at a high level this early.

Last year it was Brezina. Too bad about Plushenko but he did have to take 10 days off of training anything I believe.

It's a pro-am, both eligible and pro skaters can participate. It's a team competition. Each of the single skaters skates his/her LP, and then the scores are added. There are 3 teams: Japan, North America and Europe.

Japan Open usually ends with Carnival on Ice, a show starring all of the competitiors and some guest skaters. :)

Kozuka over Takahashi ? No, no, no. Not for me . Buttle is very close, though :).

Great cast. Even without Plushenko and Korpi.

I really doubt that it would be the right thing, when they have a chance to perform in the first event of the kind ever - figure skating combined with LIVE opera music (performed by famous opera singers) in the grand arena of Verona (it's not some ice rink, but an ancient amphitheatre almost as big as Colliseum in Rome - the ice will be made especially for the show there). And Carolina Kostner is the "face" of this event, but Lambiel will not only skate there, but also choreograph two programs for Carolina to arias from 'Carmen' and 'Tosca'. Not to mention that it will be broadcast on the big screen in 600 cinemas around the world. I don't think even 'Japan Open' and 'Carnival on Ice' can beat that. Sorry, MR-FAN.

No, that was over several years ago, although they are still friends. Simply, Kostner is Italian, but Lambiel obviously just loves Italy and is loved back by the Italian public.

Carolina has (had?) a marathon runner boyfriend, I think. He's very successful (olympic champion?)
    Stephane....well:lol:...I don't want to comment:2faced: he's mine;)

A :sekret: (an ISU judge that I know) has mentioned that it is apparently a known fact that within the FS community that Carolina isn't exactly to Stephane's tastes...

screech, I am not so sure that even they know more than figure skating fans do, because Lambiel, while being a generally open person, is indeed very private about his private life, but his fans follow him quite closely (I don't quite mean stalking, although sometimes it reminds just that ).
