Ugh ... why is Caroline there? I don't want to be rude, but she was 12th at Nationals this year. WHY??

I would assume it would be because she has a Grand Prix assignment

She has a Grand Prix Assignment at Skate America and therefore qualifies for Champs Camp

Why is Ashley Wagner blond? Yuck, go back to brunette please...

I see Rachael hasn't let her sassy soccer/PTA mom hairdo grow out any...*sigh* I guess we're looking at another season of this.

I think both Ashley and Rachael look great. :shuffle:

Caroline is there because she has a GP assignment.

Lynn Rutherford tweeted about Tom Z saying Brandon Mroz had been landing 4F and 4Lo in practice.

His tweets are always hilarious! :D You know I think Alex had a growth spurt this summer. He looks slightly more filled out- more like a young man and less like a boy.

Looking forward to everyone's new programs this year.

    He's a funny guy, all right. :)

You scared me with that! I thought she'd gone platinum or something. :yikes: It doesn't look so bad. Just a few shades lighter, as far as I can tell.

I realize that ... but I guess the bigger question is why does she have a GP assignment? Give some of the other up-and-coming skaters the chance. *sigh*

There was a very long discussion about this in the "Skate America TBA" thread, and when it comes down to it, there aren't a lot of alternatives in terms of senior ladies who "deserved" it more than Zhang. Other than Bulanhagui and Forte, those above Caroline at nationals are all already assigned or staying junior. And she is by far the one with the most international experience of the remaining pack.

ETA: I'm just defending Zhang because it seems like no one else does.

This page is giving me a "doesn't exist" message. Hope it's just a temporary glitch!

ETA: Never mind, it's back. I've got a screen full of cute Ricky with his guitar. :swoon: Maybe I'll have it made into a wallpaper or screen saver!

I was hoping to see it growing out. And not so blond. That look just does not work for her. It is very middle aged elementary school teacher. I've said it before...she'll be skating in a modified denim jumper with applique decorations on the front next.

ETA: I assume reporting injury to USFSA is a topic in that binder.....:slinkaway

Actually, Rachael's hair looks a little better, more modern, so I'm OK with it.

Never realized how small Mirai was before, she always seems to have a stately presence on the ice but she's completely dwarfed by Agnes and Ashley Cain in that pic. Also did she get red highlights? Kinda looks like it.

Caroline is there because somebody thought she has earned the right.
If you don't approve, don't look at her pictures.

Well, let's be honest here. The 2010-11 season was a pretty bad for one for Zhang. She didn't win any medals. She didn't even come close. 7th and 9th in her GP events, 12th at Nationals. No post-Nationals assignments for the first time I can remember. She is pretty lucky she got one. If she disappoints again this year, I don't think she will be given a third chance.

    I'm rooting for her.

Carmen? REALLY? I know little about Mroz, but somehow I'd have thought Buttle would be a little more creative than that. . . .

Sorry, but what in the world does her picture have to do with anything?
I don't mind that she is there, but I am surprised. "Champ camp" implies a certain level of success, which Caroline does not seem to have met.

It's not like there are that many options. There are barely any options to even fill the third slot. You don't have to be a medal contender to land a Grand Prix assignment. I'm fine with Zhang getting one based on her decent results in recent years, even if last year was really off for her.

True, I agree. But with kids like Keiser, Hicks, Lam, Gold..etc. coming, I just don't know if she can keep up.

Mirai spoke about her short, she is trying to be mature while performing it. She trains 3-3 and hopes to include it in program some time this season (I guess we won't see her doing 3-3 at GPs).
Mirai graduated this year and is very happy about it: "Yeah, I graduated, thank God":D She also had a week off this summer.
Having Evan training near her is really motivating, he pushes her every time, "when Evan and Frank are together they are unstoppable" He didn't train for six monthes and still can go out and do his LP - that's why Evan is Olympic Champion.
People have been telling Mirai that she is really talented but she hasn't skated to the best of her abilities, so this season she wants to have fun (as always:)) and to skate to her talent and even beyond it.
Mirai is all smile as always :swoon:

That's not everything, just some key points which I managed to understand.:shuffle:

Ashley spoke about the fact that Nicks 'put his foot down' and is making her work on fine-tuning her jumps: Checking the landings, arm positions, etc., and also that she will have a 3-3 probably later in the season

Sounds like an interesting season. I'm just gutted not to see Caitlin's name among the pairs. :wuzrobbed: I hope Evora/Ladwig have a fantastic season and get their first US title.

And all the whining about Zhang makes me want her to totally :kickass: and make some people have to eat their words. Moreover, the GP selection criteria has been discussed to death already. It is what it is.

Okay, so Ashley's blond hair isn't as bad as I thought:rolleyes:. When I saw the picture, she looked really blond; but I think it was just the flash of the camera that made it look like that b/c in the video it doesn't look bad...it's lighter but not too light. It looked Elene Gedavanishvilli blond in the picture! I still think she looks better with darker hair (it makes her eyes stand out more) but the blond doesn't look bad.

Glad to see Mirai's paying attention and hopefully she'll work harder this year now that she's in shape and finally live up to the potential she has. Fingers crossed!

That goes both ways! I can't see many of the BBC's "Behind the Scenes" clips for Torchwood because I live in the US.

I don't get the purpose of that.
