I've opened up another thread in the Kiss and Cry area about this competition. So far, Team North America includes:

    • Joannie Rochette
    • Adam Rippon

Does anyone else know who else will be included from North America as well as the other regions?

Moderator, would you please cancel this thread if it belongs in Kiss and Cry?

    Thanks

My two cents -- I think it makes more sense to have this pre-event thread here in GSD rather than Kiss and Cry. Posted in the duplicate thread:

Isn't it about time to open up the 2010-2011 Kiss N Cry?

Only one lady left for North America. Maybe Mirai?

That's who I was thinking. It has to be an American lady if Joannie is already going, and Mirai was the highest placing U.S. lady at both the Olympics and Worlds. Plus, her Japanese heritage might entice the JSF to invite her again, as she has a fairly large following in Japan.

Guesses on the European team? Perhaps Lambiel as the professional skater for Europe, and then maybe Lepisto, Kostner and Brezina?

I agree. This might be the European team. I'd very happy if it happened!

Team Japan: Asada, Takahashi, Kozuka, Ando (Looks mighty strong)
Team North America: Rochette, Buttle, Rippon, Nagasu(?)
How about Lepisto, Lambiel, Kostner and Contesti for Team Europe?

I think Honda will skate at the gala only. They'll invite some notable skaters (Plush, Yags, S/Z..) for the Japan Open gala as they always do.

She gave herself some time to think about. She's now in preparation and creating new programmes and her motivation is back. Getting any GPs was also an important factor. So the plan at the moment is to skate until Bern.

    So glad to read that!
I would love if she leaves her LP. It was beautiful and she skated it only twice: during Nationals and in Tallinn.

If I'm not mistaken she had it for two seasons already. :)

About LP, on one hand I really loved her last LP and it didn't have much "exposure", on the other hand one more competitive program from Sarah in her last season would be great too.

Exactly. I love the music she has chose for the LP:) The SP is an adaptation of a previous programme.

I doubt it, because this event has not been televised recently in the USA.

They're working desperately to find someone who can better the 60 points Bebe got in her LP last year (which incidentally is the worst LP performance I think I have ever seen. Sad)

Last year was Olympic year, so some skaters refused to skate in a competition which was earlier than the season, but this year I think it's much easier for them to find someone.

Any clue about Europe team yet? October 2nd is between Nebelhorn and Finlandia, so it must be difficult but I want to see Michal Brezina competes against Jeff Buttle, Adam Rippon and Daisuke Takahashi!!

Pity, I hoped St├ęphane would participate. To see from him one more time a competitive program (I guess it could be his "La Traviata") could be such a wonderful thing. And for sure more beautiful and pleasant than Evgeni's "porno"...

I'm really sad Stephane won't participate. It was the last chance to see him in competition that wouldn't be too much burden for him and to see his wonderful program. :( Now he can't do any other comptition and he looked so fit and happy in last show. Do they only invite one pro skater in team for this event?

But Jeff Buttle will skate. ;) I wonder if he skates his old program or has the new one. He could also skate his Glenn Gould program, I love this one. I miss pro competitions.

It's a very good opportunity for younger skaters too.
