I have a hard time believing that Marie-France and Patrice will be there, just due to the fact they've announced they're expecting. That news is in the Battle of the Blades thread.

    I'm just sayin... :)

I think the baby is actually due sometime in December so it's very unlikely they will be skating lol!

CBC's holiday schedule is up, and HFOI will air on Tues. Dec 14 at 9:00 pm (1 hour), and repeat Christmas Day at 5:00 pm.

Cast list given at the ticket sites says Joannie Rochette, Kurt Browning, Jamie Sale & David Pelletier, Jeffrey Buttle, and Steven Cousins.

All three dates are listed on his website as one of his upcomming shows, unless something has changed. :D

That's it? Just 3 cities in the interior of BC? What about the rest of us?

I googled a bit, and it appears that they chose BC because it was the home province of the 2010 Olympics.

Well, HFOI used to only be a one-off show. It's only in the last couple years that they've had 2-4 shows.

I only tracked the years Kurt was in it, but historically:
    2002 - Kitchener, ON
    2003 - Toronto, ON
    2004 - Kelowna, BC
    2005 - Victoria, BC
    2006 - Prince George, BC
2008 - Halifax, NS and Oshawa, ON
2009 - Abbotsford, BC, Penticton, BC, Dawson's Creek, BC, Lethbridge, AB

So this year has only one less city than last year, and it's only sporadically gone to the larger cities.

Ashley Wagner tweeted the other day that she's in this show. Any FSUers attend, or will attend, who can share some impressions/highlights?

In 2007 it was back in kelowna and I believe it toured to a couple cities too but I'm not 100% sure. I think it went to Cranbrook and Vernon...

That program was PHENOMENAL! I was absolutely blown away.

It was pretty good. It always amazes me how Kurt continues to push what he can do. He's so incredibly creative.

I was actually impressed with Sale & Pelletier as well. I've kind of thought that lately they've been doing a half-ass job but their programs were actually kind of creative and they look like they're enjoying skating which I haven't really got from them for awhile.

Shawn's Muse program was also pretty amazing. I love the way that guy moves when he's not competing.

And so out of 12 numbers there were three, count them, three! numbers that weren't done to live music. Which means that there were exactly three numbers that weren't chopped up by the camera panning to the musicians.

I've nothing against musicians. Really. It's just that if I tune in to an ice skating show it would be nice to see complete performances.

I'm so disappointed with televised skating these days. For competitions we get idiot cameramen/directors who show close ups of the skaters feet, or face, or the skycam for God's sake, then for exhibition skating we see random bits of each program mixed with random bits of various musicians.

    Just sad :(

I am strangely going to disagree on this issue, just this once. Imho, Christmas shows are full of quickly choreo'd numbers that are somewhat repetitive and cutting away from time to time can actually keep them from becoming slightly boring.

The thing is it's not cutting away "from time to time", it's at least 50% of the time. If you're bored go do something else, and leave those of us who are not bored to enjoy complete programs. I agree Christmas programs can be cheesy and quickly choreographed, but I still want to see them all the way through.

Hmm - good grief what an ott reaction to a simple "imho" statement, imho anyway. I never would have expected such a strong response from you. I didn't say you aren't entitled to feel the way you do about it, did I? I think I should be allowed to say how I feel about it too.

And since I did say that the cutting away can help keep them from becoming boring, (and will now insert to me as perhaps that is more clear than imho), so ta very much for the advice, but I think I will continue to watch.

Well I just re read what I wrote and it does sound OTT so I'm sorry for that. It was not my intention. However I admit that it is a hot button for me and has been for years - the filming of both dance and figure skating - I'm always incredibly disappointed and frustrated by half-body shots, and skycams, and cutting away to something else. I like to see complete choreography and I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to ask for, and I find it completely incomprehensible that anyone could think we want to see a close-up of the skaters feet in the middle of a spin. :duh: Oh I could go on and on. Like I said it's a sore point with me, but I'm sorry I was so snappy :yikes:

Okay, no problem - pax. That ^ sounds much more like you.
(And for sure it's easy enough to overreact a bit when the right buttons get pushed. You should have seen my first version of a reply to you - good thing I managed to re-read it a couple of times before posting )

So I am watching the superchannel TV 38 right now and if this is what will show on all the US channels in syndication I think you will be more pleased with the selection because they are showing more of the non-live-music performances. So far they have added in both Jeff and Kurt's numbers that weren't shown on CBC. Sorry but I can't tell you if they used any different camera work on the other numbers.

What they did showed was in the original skate order.

"I Believe in Angels" George Canyon - Cast
"Better be Home" George Canyon - Steven Cousins
"Frosty Snowman" Geroge Canyon - Shawn Sawyer
"Baby Please Come Home" U2 - Violetta & Pete
"Medley" Glenn Gould - Jeffery Buttle
"Steppin' Out of my Mind" Geoffrey Tyler - Kurt Browning
"O Holy Night" One more Girl - Joanne Rochette
One More Girl talk briefly about this experience
"What Christmas means to Me" One more Girl - Ashley Wagner
"Run Run Rudolph" One more Girl - Jamie & David
    George talks briefly
"Santa Claus is Coming to Town" George Canyon - Jeffrey Buttle
George talks and One More Girl returns
"Silent Night" All Singers and Cast
