Amazing! I think in the old days people used to send messages in bottles but it's extremely rare to find those.

People still do, just to see how far they get. Mostly they're lost. And sailors about to be lost at sea who have time have been known to do it (at least one bottle message was thrown up on shore during the Black Friday storms of 1913 on the Great Lakes when dozens ships went down across the Lakes). They just don't usually wind up anywhere but the bottom. I would be so tempted to open the bottle....
What does the message say?! Imagine finding such a letter and discovering it reads something simple and lame like "butts" or "I was here."
