help translating German idiom

I'm copyediting an article in which the German authors use the expression "In line" as a transition to start a sentence, e.g., "In line, there are only limited data on treatment options..."

I'm not really sure what relationship they're trying to express between this sentence and what preceded it. Would it be clearer in English to say "As a result," "Accordingly," etc.? Or "Similarly,"? Or ... ?

I suppose, they mean "auf dieser Weise" here, which would be in English "accordingly" or "therefore"
