Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer has passed away today (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-20621265), after one month in the hospital. He was a "mere" 104 years old.
There was a running gag here that, when Armaggedon comes, only roaches and Oscar Niemeyer would survive.

He's the one responsible for some really iconic buildings around the world, not just in Brazil. One of his most notorious work is the planning of the whole city of Brasilia and all of its landmark constructions.

Some images of his crazy and beautiful buildings (http://www.google.com.br/search?hl=en&q=oscar+niemeyer+work&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bpcl=39468505&biw=1366&bih=643&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=8-a_UP2GFo_e8ATGmoG4AQ).

I saw an interview with him recently (on a fabulous documentary about cities called Urbanized) -- and I swear he didn't look a day over 70.

RIP, Oscar. And have fun redesigning heaven.
