sorry for my poor English, aka gerbil.. were you talking about beauty pageant for cows, by chance?

At it's heart, basically, yes. The closest analogy familiar comparison would be to showing horses or dogs though. The big difference is that most of us aren't crazy like the pagent moms can be.

We did it because my dad did it growing up, and he thought it (along with our other farm chores) would be a good way to each responsbility and hard work. We also enjoyed getting to be around other farm kids/ farm families. There's also the aspect of showing cows as a form of marketing our livestock to those who might want to buy them for their own farms.

cool... i once saw some huge cows in the mountains, much bigger than normal ones. They're called "Frisone" in Italian. awesome animals!
so in a way all that Tessa and Scott have to do is showing they're much more beautiful cows than Ilynikh/Katsalapov... I hope this reassures Pani.

found this on Goldenskate: this ending pose from Roland Petit ballet might have inspired the straight line lift. http://operanut.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/06-Carmen-Scene-3-PasEndingPose.jpg

Does anyone have the full version of the CTV coverage... (this is the start http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BS-Npizu-gs&feature=endscreen&NR=1) with the kiss and cry and interview? Curious to hear their interview and hear the rest of Tracey's commentary...

I thought this was the TSN version. And I've been looking for the longer version too, but for now it's nonexistent.

For those of you going to CoR next weekend, we'll be expecting firsthand reports (please). And I kinda feel for Tessa and Scott since they'll only have a week (this one) between SC and CoR--basically nothing.

I think it's great that they have their two GP events early. Much more time to work on their programs for the GPF and Nats.

I'm so busy I hardly have time to keep up with the thread, but just wanted to say I love both D&W and V&M's SD's, slightly favoring D&W's Giselle - it so suits them. I think when V&M's SD is more polished I will love it just as much. Love the costumes of all four for the SD. All together thoroughly charmed. Smiling and clapping at the end of both dances.

As for Notre Dame - well presumably it will improve, but not a patch on Samson and Delilah which is for me the best FD D&W ever had - one of those programs I could watch over and over. Whereas V&M's Carmen is stunning, astonishing, surprising and an overall complete triumph! Can't wait to see it by the end of the season when all the kinks are worked out and it all flows smooth as butter, which I'm sure it will. What a lot of nonsense is all the talk of thigh grabs and gyno lifts. You'd think skating fans were a bunch of prudes. Oh wait..... maybe they are. Don't they watch things like SYTYCD? V&M's FD is quite tame compared to some of the other (fabulous) modern dances out there. OK enough said. Back to my travels. Delhi is way too exciting!

OMG, I just noticed how she approaches him at the beginning, you can hear her blade. How did I miss that? It's pretty damn genius.

Another great post from Proustable:respec: Tessa is absolutely predatory in that pic. It may be my favourite.

And a good article from Elena V.( I always find her articles interesting ).

I also like this shot from slightly earlier in the action, with the focus on Scott. If we can ignore the hands for a moment :D, check his beautiful extension..

It's been very difficult to post the last while ( busy and frantic) , but here's something else I want to pass on, in case we haven't seen it yet .. British Eurosport's coverage of V/M's Hallelejah from the Gala . At the end they make a few choice comments about "Carmen" ( including "sensational".. and Oscar worthy)

Why does Tessa have 2 of her fingers colored in red?
Its funny. I know some girls do it as a good luck charm.

It means that they'll have extra time between CoR and the GPF - let's see if they can actually win it. It would be cool to be able to say that they had won every competition at least once. Although Alexei Yagudin never won Russian Nationals and people still consider him one of the best skaters of all time.
