You've been watching ice dancing for years too. Do YOU think it doesn't have holds?
Maybe this knowledgeable person should appreciate the best FD we've seen in a while and stop looking for the needle in the haystack. Sorry, maybe I'm not making myself very clear here,:) but this whole searching for motives to criticize does bug me a bit.

I were joking. ;) Maybe we dont need to pay attention to comments like this, because i could understand any criticks, but not about this FD didnt have many changes of holds.
This person need to watch R-T FD. ;)

I don't understand why people are always so obsessed with holds. Ballroom dancing isn't the only form of dance. So what if V/M's Carmen doesn't have many holds.Their Carmen has its roots in contemporary dance, which is also very difficult to express on ice,it's just a different difficulty than showing different dance holds.

But Funny Face had many holds and they hated that one too. Their Latin free was the same, but it was bad because they were slow and tired. Mahler was boring, Pink Floyd was never better than Samson and Delilah, Umbrellas was too over the top and Valse Triste was a bit less boring than Mahler, but boring nonetheless.

There's a lot going on from the waist up in this program, especially from Tessa who pretty much carries the weight of this whole dance over her shoulders. Also, every movement is made in very precise and CLOSE hold.

Oh, sure. First, I read it on Twitter. Then I saw it in a comment on Tumblr.

No, nothing like that, just people talking. But, seriously, I'm glad it's talked about.

i love it. not only because it's saultry and daring. it's pleasant for the eyes, coming from such gorgeous-looking couple who can move so smoothly and expressively :) the first seconds are so unconsciously attracting. don't you think? people look right there imagining how these two marvellous bodies look below the costumes :) i'm not ashamed to declare myself a voyeur :P this Carmen may be also a celebration of the beauty of the body, feminine and masculine, of Tessa and Scott's attractiveness. what a treat for the fans :swoon:
btw, gushing aside, it's such a relief that they decided to fully pursue the task, without caring about ice dancing etiquette and "what judges/people might think". they bring truth to ice dance. in the meanwhile, they expose much of theirselves, something extremely intimate, for the sake of artistic truth. like many contemporary artists.
otherwise, the terrible conflicts and violence wouldn't be believable. we live in a violent world and there is violence inside each of us. watching this program, i think we can ask ourselves a lot of questions. or at least, it is so for me.

Since I posted this in the D/W thread, thought it might be of interest to the V/M fans/ubers (yeah, I'm one :D)

Just because I like to "play" with numbers, I thought it might be interesting to see just what these two amazing dance couples put up on the board.
Both have some levels in which they can improve upon in their SD -- especially with their lifts. D/W got -1 for an extended lift while V/M had their called a level 1 so they got the bigger ding.
In the free, D/W have a level 2 and two elements with a level 3 so some room for improvement there. V/M got a level 2 and a leve 3 on two different elements.
PCS are pretty close and I am guessing that V/M's were perhaps a bit lower because of their couple slipups.
Going to be an interesting season between these two, I think.Yes, thank you again, professordeb. I took the liberty to correct some wrong numbers in your charts.
