It was one of their weakest skates as far as I can remember.
The program has huge potential and there is still work to be done.
As you could already have seen in practice video - they have new dance spin with really well adapted/suited positions.

I am sorry that I dont see the modernity in their interpretation of this often used famous piece.
I find that Krylova&Ovsianikov had the modern approach to Carmen 14 years ago.
I am only stressing this since Tessa and Scott explained themselves how they wanted to make a modern version and this is very typical Carmen approach. The work they have put in the new elements is showing and with more time and more competitions I think it will get better.

This.

I honestly preferred C/L SD over their's. And I'm not getting all the hype about "modern dance" in the FD, either. It was okay/average but nothing outstanding. I've seen better. *Runs before I get attacked*:scream:

Medal Ceremony! Scott looks hot as usual - so does Tessa, although I feel like they may need to take out the mesh on her dress and substitute it for cloth because she is showing a bit of nipple.

i found the costumes to be fascinating. they completely changed how i interpreted the dance. and the concept behind them were really simple: it was a play on the colour black. you had grey hints. sheers here and there. lace. it was subtle, becoming, striking and dark.

I hope they change the costumes. Cool that they're not using red, but I think that cut does not work on her and I don't like the mesh bits on Scott either. I wouldn't mind a minimalist approach like Pink Floyd.

I heard Tessa got sick during the medal ceremony and had to leave briefly.

I saw this. Did anyone said what happened?
I like costumes, i love Scott in black. I only worry about Tessa. And cant understand, why they look so unhappy

I thought the costumes were great. I thought they were minimalistic. I liked the mesh. It broke up the black and made it better without adding anything too over dramatic.

Probably his neck hurt and she was ready to vomit?

I think there were some small issues with the Free Dance that they are going to be working on. Smoothing it out as some people have already stated and some of those lifts could be reworked so they come off more smooth flowing. But what I have seen, its very good, innovative and I can even state without equivocation that this program will move the sport of Dance further then we have ever seen before.

There will be of course people who will not be fans of this program, that is understandable since this isn't your classical balletic or latin choreograhed dance program, what we have here is something unique and pushes the envelope of contemporary choreography that I have long wanted to see come to Dance. Most people are used to see the dramatic dance programs that the Russians made famous, but what I want to see is Dance where skaters actually skate with the music and not to the music. A key difference and that is why Virtue/Moir stand out to me.

Will Carmen be Virtue/Moir's signature program, I think yes it will be. Because like Patrick Chan that is forcing change on the Men's side. Virtue/Moir is forcing the envelope of change in Dance and they will only make this sport that we love to watch better.

Were there many deductions? I was thinking they would score between 105 & 107 for that & they got 104? Not sure what they were deducted for other than the twizzle Tessa missed & the trip near the end of the program.

Yeah, she did. Scott was clearly concerned, but tried to smile and joke with Anna and Luca. Tessa was definitely a bit off tonight (it reminded me a little of the 2009 Skate Canada OD) - maybe it was nerves, maybe she has the flu, like someone mentioned on the pbp thread. I loved how protective Scott acted towards her. Very gentlemanly.:) Someone please tell her she's the best dancer in the world, it's killing me when she doubts herself.

The program is a masterpiece, every movement makes sense and interprets the music. It's going to take a lot of work to master it, but I'm certain they'll be able to. No doubt, the best FD of the season. My only criticism is that it wasn't as sensual as in practice. Hope they bring back that mood when they're more relaxed.
