Tanja Szewczenko, 1997 Champion Series Final, LP (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dj9q7UOqwQ8): Just an out of mind, out of body type skate from her. The sheer catharsis of the ending; the emotional utter letting go aspect just hits me.

Yes, definitely. I watched this at the apartment of a fellow FSUer and another FSUer who is now deceased. When Tanja skated we all were like "WHAT?!?!?!" She skated out of her mind and body, and could have won the GPF. Unfortunately Tara had a response, and it was "Zu schlechtes Weibchen".

I never thought she had the 3flip, or a consistent lutz, but she totally brought it. I love this performance, and the memory of sharing it with my skating friends. Love you both.

Those that come immediately to mind:

Shen Zhao 2003 Worlds fp

Just this. It will likely remain my favorite program of all time, if only because of the circumstances. I feel so fortunate to have been there. Just . . . wow.

oh my, thanks for keeping the memory to her skating.
germany was so lost in ladies figure skating after her.

sadly, she missed olympics this season where she could have been really in the hunt for a medal :(

I was too young for Tanja Szewczenko and Zhengxin Guo but they really had some potential, especially the latter! Wonder what would have happened if they lived up to their potentials.

Absolutely. For her to come back after a serious illness, was simply amazing.

I would add to the list Irina Slutskaya's skate in 2004, after she came back from a serious illness. She did not skate clean, but she showed her heart, her courage.

Tanja Szewczenkos programs is one I will never ever forget. I was at the competition and had a GREAT talk with her after her practice that day and when she skated THAT program - me and my friend were screaming like crazy and cried because we were so happy with her! After the victory ceremony she saw me and my friend in the stands and waved a kiss for us. Tanja´s the reason why I became a skating fan some years earlier and that FP is my all-time-favourite of her! So many great memories! :-)
BTW: some years later she skated that program again in the TV-soap "Alles was zählt" she participated. Not with all the jumps, but with the same choreography. It was so unexpected for me and I was sooo happy to see it again! I guess this is maybe one of her favourite programs, too!
