I am surprised no-one has posted anything about this. Jerry Nelson, the voice of The Count on Sesame Street, has died.

I loved Sesame Street and I think the Count was my favourite character.

Who knew Sesame Street would cover the subject matter of shows such as Six Feet Under (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4_MMInV6tg)?

It's the first I've heard of it Aussie Willy and thanks for letting us know. I loved The Count. He was one of my favourites along w/Ernie, Kermit and Cookie Monster.

Thanks for both the memories and also educating so very many children over the years Mr. Nelson. May he rest in peace. :(

Another great Muppeteer gone. (The Muppeteers don't just "do voices", as Jim Henson emphasized to new hires, they perform the characters, except in the cases where two characters with the same performer have to be onscreen together.) It's so strange that I still kind of think of Elmo as a "newer" character, but his longterm performer Kevin Clash, who started out as a kid with the company, is now sort of the "Old Master" and mentor figure. I feel very old.

RIP, Jerry, though I'm sure Jim had a project ready the minute you arrived...who lets the afterlife stop creativity?
