I noticed that too. It seems Todd thinks she is ugly. No one else said that. She is an elite skater, and she appears to have chopped off her hair at Supercuts, possibly on a Wednesday when it's only $15. No one on here is saying she is 'ugly'. Just badly prepped.

Please see my post above, and please don't make me out to be the bad guy here when it is unwarranted.

Others on other threads have use disparaging words about her which included the word 'ugly' among other words. That's what I was referring to.

I think a team competition to this format would be more exciting to see in Sochi than the one they are planning to have at the next Olympics.:P

Team Ribbons was the:cool:est and should have won.:kickass:

Loved those videos.

Not in this thread, though. All that was mentioned was her unfortunate haircut.

And I think it is a good point. Many Feds give styling tips to their skaters - I am surprised that the USFSA does not do it - Denney really needs an intervention for instance.
It does not make a huge difference but appearance in skating is a factor whether we like it or not.

Ziggy, wasn't the Polish Fed always giving styling tips to Domanski and told him to use make-up in order not to appear too pale?

just tuned in

Thank you for posting these videos!

Team Hula was hilarious with the Kerri Strug ending, but team Ball was the winner for me.

I see Adam cut his hair. It makes him look more mature.
Caroline did a nice no-hands cartwheel.

( Somehow, "Team Balls" just doesn't sound right. )

You've misunderstood my post. I don't think she is ugly at all. I think she's a cute all-american girl.

I was referring to several other threads that have devolved into an attack on her looks, using that word and others. This thread seemed headed there. My apologies if I have added to the problem.

But toddlj...you could have found a better way to express yourself. Flatt has the all-American girl next door look. Maybe there are those who are not fond of her haircut, but that is not the same as making disparaging remarks about her physical appearance.

USFS officials overstepped their bounds when they told Flatt to cut her hair. What they could have done, is to have brought in a group of stylists at each champs camp (perhaps P&G...as they are huge sponsors of the Olympics)...with their beauty care groups....and spend a day working with all of the athletes, from looking at color charts, to doing hair styles (what works for ice dancers does NOT work for singles or pair skaters), bring in a high level clothing designer to work on suggested "styles" for costumes, all things that could be dones, working with exisiting sponsors for the USOC.

Bump-it aside (because I think it looks bad on everyone), I don't get why anyone had a problem with Rachael's previous look. So she had long hair that she wore a bun when she skated. So what? Why was that so objectionable?

This makes me wonder, who's making the decisions on costuming and such at Champs Camp right now? Who gets the final say on telling a skater to redo their costume? Whose taste is being catered to? I don't mean just personal taste of judges. National taste is not the same as international taste and a costume that may speak volumes at home may not translate overseas (example: Ryan Bradley's Bugle Boy costume).

Team Jump Rope barely used their jump ropes during the routine and they messed up the ending. How in the heck did they win? Typical clueless figure skating judging :P.

Team Balls - routine was too campy.

Team Ribbons and Team Hula Hoop -this was a close call, but it was much easier to twirl the rippon around while doing other things with your body. Team Hula Hoop had the harder equipment and they did a good job. Team Hula Hoop - the true winner !!!! :)

I don't remember now but there surely are some individual judges and officials who take it upon themselves to offer helpful (read: often not very helpful) tips on everything including appearance. ;)

That would be a great idea.
