Only 68. He wrote much of the soundtrack of my grad school years. RIP.

What a career. The Way Were and A Chorus Line come to mind first. RIP.

"Nobody Does It Better" is one of my favorite songs. 68 is still way too young :(

There's a skating connection - he composed the soundtrack for Ice Castles, including the theme song, Through the Eyes of Love.
So young.

He also had the honor of playing the overture for Groucho Marx when Groucho did his sold-out show at Carnegie Hall back in 1972.

He will be missed, but thankfully his music lives on.
He was a huge talent and left us wonder music to remember him by. RIP. :(

He wrote the "soundtrack" for much of my early adulthood.
A prodigious pianist, he played the Ragtime pieces heard in "The Sting".

I love his song The Last Time I Felt Like This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si_1mpmVECA) as performed by Johnny Mathis and Jane Olivor for the film Same Time Next Year (which starred Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn).
I also like the Barbra Streisand/Bryan Adams duet which he co-wrote, I Finally Found Someone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tK4peuAODtc). :40beers:

I was certainly sad to hear of his sudden death. I had the privilege of seeing him perform live with the National Arts Centre Orchestra here in Ottawa quite a few years ago. His achievements were legion and his music will certainly live on :)
