Shannon: "That was definitely an ankle-biter right there".

Nail-biter, doll. There are no toddlers around!

I was told it refers to literally biting the ankles.. as in their achilles.. the main injury when a rotation is short in the vault

Yes, but Maroney brought it home on the most prestigious event for Team Final. It's a shame she couldn't put the icing on the cake, but she still had a perfect vault at the Olympic Games.

I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of bobbles from the US on team finals for women--lots of attention/press for the Team and AA gold. It must be hard to have full concentration.

I wonder how shaken too the competitors were with the fall earlier.

I totally agree.. I think the US women were really focused first and foremost on bringing home the team gold..

On the bright side, McKayla has Olympic gold & silver at age 16. :cheer:

I do think she can hang on for Rio, but even if she doesn't, it would be nice to see her win another World title or two the next quad.

I agree the reality is pretty amazing... and I agree with other posters that someone who falls on their bum shouldn't get the gold.. although her first vault and ability in that vault is the best thing I have ever seen in vaulting.. but her second one was absolutely crap.. although I wanted her to win gold.. she didn't deserve it.. :blah:

Ahhhhhhh, gotcha.

This is why we need Shannon for ALL gymnastics commentating, we all might actually learn something from her other than just manufactured :drama: from the Terrible Trio. ;)

I don't think anyone has said that McKayla deserved a gold with how she performed here. Only that she did deserve the silver considering the level of the competition and the rules as they stand.

@WillGravesAP: McKayla " I really didn't deserve to win a gold medal if I fall on my butt."

I'm in no technik when it comes to PH, but Smith's routine didn't look as hard as Berki's. Final results will be interesting...
