Well I am glad that a butt landing did not win gold. But gutted for mcKayla. Silver nothing to sneeze at though. Yay for Izbasa getting a gold for Romania yet again in a games that must be disappointing for them so far!

I wonder how the PC brigade will respond to the fact that Maroney wouldn't congatulate anybody and refused a hug from Paseka! :saint:

Also, there goes a shed load of my accumulators, I had Maroney on most of them :drama:

Sad, but true, especially since vault was the only event she had to focus on this entire Games. :(

Yes, but Maroney brought it home on the most prestigious event for Team Final. It's a shame she couldn't put the icing on the cake, but she still had a perfect vault at the Olympic Games.

I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of bobbles from the US on team finals for women--lots of attention/press for the Team and AA gold. It must be hard to have full concentration.

I wonder how shaken too the competitors were with the fall earlier.

How come McKayla has 0.3 in penalties for her first vault (according to the online scoring)? I am in notechnik with this scoring system.

She landed in the red. OOB basically.

I wonder how much her toe was bothering her. Maybe her QF and TF vaults worsened the toe break even more.

While this sucks for Maroney, what's going to suck even more is during the Prime Time coverage, Andrea Joyce is going to be jamming that microphone in McKayla's face and asking her to relive what happened   :blah:. If indeed that happens, I hope McKayla gives Andrea one of her classic "cut a bitch" looks and tells her to stick the mike where the son don't shine.

Even Maroney's first vault wasn't as good as usual for her. I can't see any score right now, but I wonder what would have happened if she had performed it better.

That's too bad, to be that dominant and miss like that, but that is why the Olympics are so special.

 Maroney and Izbasa hugged right after the winner was announced.

On the bright side, McKayla has Olympic gold & silver at age 16. :cheer:

I do think she can hang on for Rio, but even if she doesn't, it would be nice to see her win another World title or two the next quad.

There are no words. :fragile: At least McKayla has a team gold with a perfect vault to boot. But... blah...

How come McKayla has 0.3 in penalties for her first vault (according to the online scoring)? I am in notechnik with this scoring system.

Her left foot landed in the red. That was the worst event final ever in an Olympics. Rosu 8 years ago would've walked away with it. Totally shocked.

Poor Ellie Black as well. :( what happens if 6 vaulters get a 0 on both vaults, would they all still tie for a bronze medal or leave that spot empty?
