The French guys are yummy.

They finished last, but they didn't implode like some other teams did.

Yes, but they are French. NBC doesn't care about the French. Even when the French win, they focus on the fact that Americans lost. At least, that seems to be their approach to swimming.

It's cute to believe there's a chance NBC will show a French routine tonight. :P Rotation one already gone. :wall:

Even when Lochte won, all the focus was on Phelps's loss. NBC sucks a big one! :shuffle:

I really don't want to watch this. It broke my heart.

A medal for the US men was really the number 1 result I wanted in these games (especially once Cav didn't win). So it hurt especially. But weirdly, I feel like since, I am such a huge fan of these guys, especially Sam who I've been watching at Michigan for two years and Horton who I've been rooting for forever, I should watch. Which I know is crazy. But I never claimed to be anything but.

NBC coverage sucks.

We're only getting the American routines.

I wonder if they would've gotten a medal, would we actually have seen some routines from the other teams?

Well this is very true and originally that's how I felt, but then thinking back to it again right as soon as Uchimuras PH score came up was around the time of the final results being posted for everyone to see and soak it all in. I remember the camera cutting to the Japanese team filling the protest almost immediately as soon as they figured out why it was scored so low - the coach was walking to the table within minutes after final results because they did seem confused for a few moments about his score when it was posted (even with the mistake), almost like they were trying to decipher where deductions were taken. You can't really blame them for this either necessarily because if they had been in the first groups of teams to finish all 6 events they would've been able to make the correction before all of the final results were posted.

This is probably a stupid question, but do gymnasts get any kind of official "protocol"-type thing that shows what they got credit for and didn't, and what the judges deducted for? It seems like they should know that information like skaters now do, and shouldn't have to try to guess where they might have lost either D or E points. Getting that type of feedback is one of the best features of the COP system in skating, so if it's not done in gymnastics, I'm wondering why not.

It's brutal watching this knowing that, even with all the mistakes they've had, if they pulled it together at this point, they still could likely have gotten the silver.

Not a stupid question at all, but no, they don't.

I don't know about internationally but at meets here, all the way to national, coaches can always make verbal inquiries about D and E score. That's not permitted at the Olympics I don't believe.

Wish I knew more about gymnastics to understand what is going on here...the men's team got their faces cracked, word. They all look devastated.

Dear NBC,
This is the Olympics where the best in the world compete. Not the US National Championships.

GB men looked beautiful on floor. Too bad I couldnt see more. Will have to watch replays. but it is sad watching the celebrations knowing what will happen.

So they showed 1 high bar and no p bars/rings. And nothing of Japan till the end? Ukraine?

And they even dropped the US men like hot cakes even though they came back stronger in later routines?

The worst coverage ever.

I think Kohei's PB routine and one the UKR vaults (double front with a half, very nicely done) made it somewhere in between swimming heats. But yeah, awful coverage. Minutes on end of the Japanese team sitting around waiting for protest results instead of routines -with tape delay? Eesh. At least complete rotations are available online in a day or so.

Thanks! Are the E panel judges required to keep track of exactly where they took deductions and how much each one was and submit it to a "referee"/head judge? Or is the score the only thing anyone other than the judges themselves ever see? It seems like it would be very helpful to the gymnasts and coaches to know specifically where they were getting deductions. I guess this is a different kind of sekret judging than we have in (most ISU level) skating. :shuffle:
