It's Ukraine that's been shafted.

At least we still have a medal :)

(((Ukraine))) Considering the state of their program, it would have been incredible for them to get a medal. I feel terrible for them - Japan were far messier throughout. They had enough difficulty though...

I want to hug all the ukrainian gymnasts. They need a comfort after such a shock.

I went back and watched a few times and it is really hard to tell in real time if Uchimura got it or not. In real time it didn't look like it, but maybe in slow mo, it showed that he did it momentarily.

ETA - CTV just showed it in slow motion and I think he did get the handstand while his legs were split apart, which is why it didn't look like he made it in real time. I don't love the process, wish the judges could have reviewed the slow motion before the score came up because that is just heartbreaking for Ukraine.

I some what lost respect for japanese team now, i wanted Uchimura to redeem himself. However, now i am not so sure.

exactly because they are just Ukraine had it been USA or Russia
I doubt they would easily shaft them off

This is why it's such a shame. I think they needed this. What a god-awful way to lose a medal.

Can they appeal now?

Poor Ukraine. To see it on the scoreboard that you have an Olympic medal and then have it all ripped away within minutes!

I don't have the nerves to watch the ladies live tomorow.

Sorry but if the Japanese coach thought he hit the dismount, then he was totally in his right to protest. Why should they give up a medal?

BBC: "Japan were entitled to that silver medal."

Again, amateurs.

If the USA would not have fall or had get 2 points more, they would have tied Japan for the silver...

Just two points, poor guys

Yeah. If you added today's results with the qualifying results . . .

It just goes to show poorly everyone did.

Poor Ukraine - I feel so bad for them. To have the bronze medal just ripped away from them like that. British thought they had silver too. Congrats to China though on the gold.
