If the US can't get their shit together, I really really really want GB to medal.

The US is gonna finish last at this point.

Poor John. :(
What a disaster for him. He's a local and I really wanted to see him do well.

I think Orozco might want to borrow Leyva's towel and stay under it forever. Poor guy! :wuzrobbed

Sorry if this a stupid question, but if the pirouetting is worth so much, why don't more gymnasts do more of it? If the answer is that they can't, then maybe it is worth the points it gets. And if the Chinese have worked hard to do it well and get the points, I don't see why that is objectionable, except that big releases are more exciting to watch and seem like they would be harder.

I think I heard its because there are some people who can do it well naturally (has to do with shoulder structure) and if you master 1 type of pirouette the others are quite similar and easier to master.

Is John competing on any of the remaining events? He needs to get his shit together. Finish what you started sir. Finish what you started.

Albyazin is the new Nemov for Russia. Someone said of Nemov waaay back when, "a gold medal proformance for a bronze medal". He is one of my new faves.

He's fab!

Good point. The way to get a high D score is not a secret, it's all published in the COP. Obviously execution means nothing, so throw a shit-ton of pirouettes and get a 7.8 SV.

Zou got a 16.4 for high bar.

Execution means nothing!

I do sort of think it is better not to see it at this point. Although I'm also trying to avoid crying at work..

So with the bronze medal not a possibility now, I wonder how much theyll even show on NBC's primetime coverage of this.

He didn't get his hands on the horse really at all, it had no chance because he rushed the entire thing. No block to speak of. They will most likely finish last, just sigh the press will never forgive them. I'm thinking China Japan GB at this point.

Obviously the judges know more about judging then I do, so I'm assuming that Zou is doing something right. I just wish I knew what it was.
