I wanted Roger to win gold, but very happy for Andy Murray. Perhaps this straight-set win in a best-of-5 match will give Murray the belief that he can win a slam--where he'll most likely have to beat two of the big 3 as he did at this tournament.

And, congrats to Del Potro!! So happy he didn't walk away from the Olympics without a medal after that heart-breaking semis loss.

Aww, I wanted Roger to get the gold. I think this was definitely his last chance. But, congrats to Andy. Nice to see him get this after the Wimbledon heartbreak.

Nice words from Fed - from the BBC live Text page:

TENNIS
Olympic silver medallist Roger Federer after his straight sets defeat by Andy Murray: "He was better, much better than I was today but I'm happy with silver. I had a very emotional tournament. Maybe I was emotionally drained but, nevertheless, I didn't think I played too badly, but things didn't go my way. It's unfortunate, but still a great day for me. Andy looked like he was never doubting himself and he was able to come through this time around. He's had a wonderful career already and I'm happy for him."

I still think there is another Olympics for Roger. I'm so happy for Andy to win for the UK in the UK. I think Roger is the greatest the sport has seen and I think and hope we will see him in Rio.

I'm really happy Makiri ended the Olympics with a medal; it would have sucked for her to be FORTH in both of her events. :)

Belarus gets Mixed gold!

Not a bad day for British tennis, though. :)

The Belarusian flag is rather chic, IMHO. Great pattern.

Wheee, Vika and Max! :cheer2:

ETA: Vika should go for the career golden slam in Mixed Doubles. She has the Olympic gold, the US Open and the French Open already. It's totally doable for her!

I would have preferred if Robson/Murray won but for Laura Robson to be an Olympic Medallist at her age is amazing. and it's nice for Mirnyi at his age too and Vika has had an amazing Olympics as well. Murray has been just great! Congrats to him and his two medals.

It'll be a while for the medal ceremony for the mixed as the bronze medal match has yet to be played!!
