Izbasa is bringing it! Maroney has some competition after all :)

And I don't doubt Maroney is sulky, she is a fighter and hates that she isn't up on the podium for all 4 events, I'm sure.

Just watched US podium training and oh my was Maroney sulking during the other three rotations.

That's just her face. ;)

Koko is back up and tumbling, so I take it she just got rattled a bit and took a few to recover from.

I hope Koko is OK!

Izabasa has a Cheng but is she showing the potential for an Amanar? I think she will need both.

Izbasa threw a Cheng and a Mustafina, accordingly to the report at examine

Is Chelaru attemtping an Amanar?

She did a timer at one as reported

She can't use those as her two vaults because they are the same vault, the Cheng has an extra half turn, correct?

She was throwing a DTY. I don't think she has an Amanar. She would have done at least timers, I would think.

^ Correct, to qualify for vault finals, gymnasts must perform 2 vaults from different families, so a Cheng and a Mustafina would not qualify one to finals.

Anyone who can log into the NBCOlympics stream can rewind the video and watch vault/bars/anything they might have missed. :)

I cannot find any video to rewind, only a summary of podium training highlights.

Maybe she did objectively but I never warmed to her. Her releases on the bar were always sooo tiny and IMO she did nothing really spectacular.
She could swing bars, which for the Romanian team of the time was quite an achievement. I loved her Sabae FX and she was was growing into a very elegant gymnast (effortless leaps and so high). All on her own since the Deva team at the time was given horrid choreography.

I was more sorry not to see Ana-Maria who I thought was quite expressive...such a long time ago!

She was a lovely gymnast, but I'm not a big fan of the windmill arms the whole team suffered from at the time. I was sure Ana was coming back in 1997, but she never competed after Atlanta. Rusan was -unfortunately- done competing around 1994, way before the Olympics, so it wasn't a matter of just missing out like Cacovean & Presecan. At least Claudia got to go in 2000.

Can someone explain a timer to me. :shuffle:

Timer: A drill that simulates the feel of a skill, or the set for a skill without the risk or danger of completing the skill. Timers are used on most events and are a progression for learning the harder skill. They are also often used as warm-up skills for meets.
