She was the first US woman in space, and at the time, the youngest US astronaut in space. RIP to a woman who has served as an amazing role model for all children interested in science, particularly young girls.

RIP, Dr. Ride.
She was a true pioneer, in many ways.

So very sad. I still remember her on the cover of Time.

I didn't realize she was a Lesbian, that she met her partner when she was 12 and shared their professional lives too. All very cool:cool:

Sadly, I wonder if WBC will picket her funeral. :shuffle:

RIP, Sally. Your life was very inspirational, if much too short. :(

I am a bit in shock. Sally Ride always seemed like one of those invincible women.

This is second pancreatic cancer death in the last few days. Angharad Rees, who played the part of Demelza in the series Poldark, also died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 63. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18940018

rip to both wonderful ladies

I'm with you.
I lost my father to pancreatic cancer in 1998.
