Through a strange bit of circumstances, we have learned about the death of a really remarkable lady, who posted here under the username "mmscfdcsu". Her name was Mary Strattan (http://obits.cleveland.com/obituaries/cleveland/obituary.aspx?n=mary-m-strattan&pid=154903159#fbLoggedOut), and unfortunately she passed away last November, although we are only finding out about it now. The link is to her online obituary, which includes a guestbook with various people telling about what a great lady she was. I think here at FSU, she will be remembered as a lady with a heart of gold, a lot of passion for her work and culture, and no tolerance for pop music and television! Also, a great fan of Johnny Weir, although disapproving of his infatuation with Lady Gaga!

Rest gently to a great lady and skating fan. Goodnight Miss Mary.

How sad, I was reading in another thread about people asking where she had been. I will always remember her as Mary of Many Consonants. RIP.

Goodnight Miss Mary.Indeed. With her distaste for TV and all things pop culture, Mary was certainly an anachronism, but I loved that she was completely unapologetic about her views on the matter. Most importantly, she was a very kind-hearted person with a generous spirit, so her passing is truly a loss. May she rest in peace.
