I suspect that few designers consider that, much less achieve it.

My "bad". You "are" so totally "right".

On reflection tho' perhaps the "menstrual pad" comment could offend some for a complicated variety of reasons. IOW, it may not have been just the indirect reference to "bodily functions" that irked some. It might also have been that the analogy raises the specter of equating what naturally happens to women and young girls as they mature as being somehow disgusting or equivalent to something that is negative and displeasing. However, I give Tim the benefit of the doubt, in that it is impossible to know for certain whether he consciously makes or intends that kind of negative association, simply because Ven's flower design struck him the way it did.

It's all about CONTEXT. Listen, sperm passing between a man to seek out a woman's egg can be a beautiful and life-affirming. But I'd be grossed out if I saw it represented on a garment. :P

^^ Exactly.

Yes true, but I think some do, obviously not always successfully. One designer in particular that comes to mind is Johnny Weir. I just remember Johnny saying even before he had the opportunity to start doing some designing, that he aspired to "make people feel beautiful." :)

Ven seems more interested in making himself feel justified in his arrogance. But okay, maybe he will take a step back and learn to acquire some humility before the season is over.

I am so torn on this one. Chris had an amazing idea but Dmitri's made me want to BE a Rockette so I could wear it. It was perfect.

I love architectual, structured clothes and Dmitri is far and away my favorite designer of the season.

I won't miss Ven, not one bit, but Elena's dress was 50 shades of hideous.

i preferred dmitri's although chris' was also very nice

elena's was not only hideous but the skirt hung low in the middle like a cod piece

my least favorite might have been fabio who put his little gladiator dress over a grey illusion turtleneck. she looked like a cocktail waitress in a casino on a polygamous compound.

Loved Chris's design, but Dmitri owned that. I can't think the Rockettes haven't had an NY skyline dress before but I'm damn sure they haven't had Dmitri's. Not only was it modern and Rockettes it was the only one that made their model look good. That would have looked so good on Khokhlova back when she was skating with Novikov :smokin:

I was thinking a Syfy Channel Original about Joan of Arc v. Protestant aliens. It would star Nicole Ritchie. She would be defeated eventually by Turkey Disco Balls, because you can't get a better description of Sonjie's get-up than that. I know that somewhere, some Czech team Had An Idea.

 please tell PRkid I love her!

I loved Dimitri's dress, it should have won. Chris' idea was great, but would be washed out from a distance. I thought Fabio's was the worst. And the chicken dress :scream:. As bad as Elena's was, at least it looked like a lot of the tacky dresses the Rockettes actually wear.

Has anyone else been sucked into the horror that is Prom Queens? *crickets*

I thought Louisiana took prom seriously, but damn, everything really is bigger in Texas.

TWO! TWO!!! arrived to prom in a fecking helicoptor. Horse and carriage, tricked out sports cars, John Deere. One came in an 18 wheeler! And the heels  I won't even talk about the dresses or hair :yikes: They campaign for prom queen. Campaign!

LOVED Dmitry's dress, but as soon as Chris's showed up on the runway, I said, "That's the winner." It was shiny, it was bright, it was New York, it was fun, and it was just slightly cheesy. In other words, it was the Rockettes.

Seriously loved Dmitry's dress. I'm a sucker for fringe. I bellydance, we know good beaded fringe and how to use it.

Fabio....I was actually sad that he wasn't in the top or bottom three, because I was just waiting for Kors to bust out with "If you gotta bump it, bump it with a trumpet." Ridiculous.

I knew the bottom two would be Elena and Ven, and I knew Elena would get a pass because she at least tried something outside her comfort sphere.

Elena made an effort, though. I think that was the difference. Ven basically said "if I can't make an origami rose, I'm not going to make anything".
