Former Olympic high jump silver medallist Blanka Vlasic has withdrawn from the London Games after failing to recovery from injury.

The 28-year-old Croatian has undergone two operations on an Achilles tendon problem and today conceded defeat in her battle to fully recover in time for London.

I'm so sad to hear this. No matter what the country or the sport, it is always awful to hear of someone so talented missing the Olympics.

I loved watching her compete. Best wishes to her in the future.
