Anna Li tweeted that she is going to London so I'd guess that all of the Alternates have been told they are traveling. After what happened to the men in 2008, it seems foolish not take all 3.

Speaking of traveling, has anything been announced about where the athletes will go? They can't go to CO Springs, can they?

I don't think so. Alicia's great and her comeback was impressive but Sarah has all 4 events covered with exceptionally good beam and floor routines. She is the better choice.

Could someone tell me what happened to Sabrina Vega? I didn't keep up with Gymnastics as much as I would have liked to this past year, and was sad to see she didn't even make the NBC broadcast :( I figured she would have been a contender after making the WC team last year.

They need to keep announcing the team like that for every Olympics. It's so much better than "Here are your top 2, and the rest we're going to bring to camp and whoever doesn't break makes the team. Bye!"

Completely agree. Alicia said something about this before the competition. She was glad they were naming the team at the end of trials because it sucked for the other girls to be named at the camp instead of in front of their family and the crowd. It was silly too, since Sacramone, Memmel, and Peszek were all locks at that point. The only spot up in the air was the 6th and I don't know if Bridget would have been named at that point. Interesting to think about.

Does this mean they're free to return to their home gyms to prepare rather than going to the Karolyis where they'll be worked to injury?

She did not upgrade her difficulty enough, and she got passed by other gymnasts. She was maybe a little lucky to make the final team roster last year - she placed well in the AA, but there were specialists with higher start values. But with the injuries to Bross, Sloan, M. Caquatto, Memmel, Sacramone before Worlds, plus Shaun Johnson not really ready, plus Ross still a junior last year, she got the spot (Douglas too). She didn't seem to have the fire in her belly like the others even if her form would get points.

One thing I did appreciate was that the camera wasn't focused on Rebecca Bross's face when the team was announced like it was in 2000 with Vanessa Atler. It wasn't so sad looking at the 2008 AA OGM looking from the outside at the newly selected team.

Kyla does a DTY instead of an Amanar.
Tim: "She's doing an easier vault than she did day 1."
Elfi: "Yeah, she watered it down."
Al: "What does that mean?"

For me, the most important thing is that beautiful McKayla Maroney made it onto the Team of Five. I was holding my breath for a while, then she did great (if not perfect) on floor and was her usual marvel on vault. Brava!

Marketing Notes to the NBC Goons: When the heck will the NBC Olympics site change all of those Jordyn Weiber photos and show the top-scoring gal, Gabby Douglas, on its banners? GABBY, not Jordyn, should be raking in the marketing bucks. (Besides, Gabby is much more photogenic - face it!) Get with the program, NBC!!!
visa commercials are showing shawn johnson.... and we all know how the visa atheles did in vancouver!!! lol

Do you guys think maybe Sac turned down the alternate position offer thus giving Finnegan the spot?
Um NO- she was there to be ON the team-

That is incredibly sweet of Rebecca, a class act all the way. It's too bad she fell apart on bars and couldn't have at least been an alternate.

Love the pic of McKayla and Kyla. Especially because McKayla had a bit of a diva-face even back then!

Aly's so calm when she's competing, I never would have guessed she was such a crier.

I find that people who are the most rock solid can get extremely emotional when they finally experience relief. Years of emotion come flooding out all at once.

As for Bross, I suspect she has been self-sabotaging for quite some time now. Not surprised she finally hit the balance beam routine only after she definitively took herself out of her contention on bars. I wonder if the never-ending bad decisions are really Valeri or Rebecca herself. Seems like she's almost relieved when she fecks up.
