(emphasis mine)

I'm thinking there'll be a lot of pressure on the FIG to devalue this vault (as well as the Yurchenko's in general) and get the (stupid) scoring system a bit more balanced across events. It's almost impossible to be a top contender without that single skill, and that simply should not be the case when it comes to competitive sport.

I think I read that it will go down to 6.3.

Yes, that's the current plan, though it could change again before the final draft of the Code is released. If it drops to 6.3, that will make the vault worthwhile for only the gymnasts who do it the very best and receive less than a point in deductions. Gymnasts who do the vault poorly (like Raisman) will be better off sticking with a DTY.

OMG that was so good. I have no voice left whatsoever. Nastia got two well deserved standing ovations.

Anna!!!!!!!!! :kickass:

Will post more later, on the way home :coffee: we were all in bits just like Aly - so happy I went I love gymnastics so much!! :swoon:

If this is the type of coverage we're going to be getting during London, I'm going to be very unhappy for 2 weeks.

This is the team we've all been guessing, and it's the perfect team to send.

And, like TG, I'm thrilled for Raisman. Yes, some of her gymnastics is kinda fug, but she's growing on me as both a gymnast and a team leader.

I still find her gymnastics fugly but I am super happy she made the team. It would have been a huge injustice at this point if she didnt.

Aly's so calm when she's competing, I never would have guessed she was such a crier.

Nastia is such a class act and always so well spoken in her interviews. I'm looking forward to the return of her big Texas hair.

I hope Nastia comes back next year. I think she could have a good Worlds with more training. I hope Bross comes back next year too. Isnt there a good chance Wieber and Raisman would retire, if so that would open up 2 spots on next years team.

Nastia said in her post-comp interview that she's headed for NYU, so I think she's done. Also referred to her beam as her last gymnastics routine.

Nastia is saying she is going to NYU in January to study sports management. Good for her!!

Good grief, Shannon Miller is a knockout. I wouldn't have recognized her except for the caption. She doesn't look anything like she did as a gymnast.

That's exactly what I said. And I have to say, what got to me the most. People have been calling Aly a lock since Classics, but she must have felt it wasn't over till it was over and seeing her (of all people) get emotional had me really choked up.

Wish Sac was named alternate, she did all she could. I would have picked her over Finnegan.

I hadn't realized until I saw the list that every one of the eight team ladies team members trains at a different gymnastics studio. Has that happened in any of the recent years?
