Allison Scott, the mother of Jeremy Abbott, writes a blog about being a skating parent. It's a very positive blog. Her latest entry is terrific, recognizing five skaters . . . Nick LaRoche, Sean Rabbit, Doug Mattis, Tim David and Parker Pennington . . . who are working to help other skaters. It's worth a read (http://ontheedgeofskating.blogspot.com/) (as are the other entries in the blog).

Thanks for starting this thread! I also enjoyed reading her May 28th entry titled "Q&A: Ten Questions I Dared to Answer (http://ontheedgeofskating.blogspot.com/2012/05/q-ten-questions-i-dared-to-answer.html)" - good insights, I thought, into the challenges of being a parent of elite athletes.

Thanks for alerting me, manleywoman.
I'm enjoying her blog, as well.

Your podcast interview with her was wonderful, also.
I recommend it highly!

It's great that Jeremy's mom has highlighted some of the endeavors of these skaters to help out other skaters. She should perhaps also follow up on skaters who have reached out, beyond skating, to embrace a particular group in their philanthropic/charitable efforts.

I wish to everything it wasn't a black page with white lettering. That setup gives me an awful headache.

Other than page design, it's a great post!

Funny, she just changed the template to black on blue. :)
