It seems to me that Marina got him fired.

Igor's latest quotes certainly give that impression. However it's also stated in the article that the USFSA has been aware of the situation for about a month now so I have to wonder how much Igor is trying to cover his own ass right now. The reason I say that is because Igor is the American citizen, he is the one who marches with team USA in the Olympics and wears their jacket. If the USFSA knew about this for a month and Igor seemed more "USA USA" then Marina why let him be the one who gets fired if it's just a tiff between the two coaches. If Igor is more valuable and the skaters are happy with him then you would think logically Marina is the one shown the door. Only the opposite seems to have happened.

Exactly.

He's probably already got other job offers. It sounds like he is hoping Davis and White go with him. It also sounds as if Marina thinks they will stay with her. :watch:

According to the rink USFSA knew about the situation, so if anything unethical were involved they would have had to take some action.

Even after reading through this whole thread i still don't know what to think! Holy wow...talk about unexpected! Here I was all ready to watch the Game of Thrones season finale (as someone upthread mentioned), and then this drops in our laps!

Jacqui White has posted a comment on the Detroit Free Press story site saying that the dance teams did not initiate this and are basically caught in the middle as Marina and Igor do battle.

"This is an old story of "who has control", where egos come into play and team cooperation erodes."

This is what puzzles me.

What was the issue that the USFSA had to be notified a month ago. I understand is big news enough that there were problems on team Shpilband/Zueva , but the urgency in which this "problem" was resolved makes me wonder.

Oh boy. This doesn't sound good. :( An upheaval like that is just what those teams don't need.

Jacqui White's comment just threw another wrench into this whole drama. Certainly things don't sound as clear cut as the initial article made it seem.

And the World Arena in Colorado Springs.

We have plenty of mega rinks in the DC area plus a successful fledgling ice dance program.:D
