I think that Igor may be a bit more involved as a father than Morozov... :slinkaway
Morozov is divorced to the mother of his daughter.

Morozov is divorced to the mother of his daughter.

So is Shpilband. Being divorced doesn't automatically mean that Dad is less involved.

I have no idea... the extent of my knowledge on the subject is that Morozov used to choreograph programs for his daughter. Does he still do that? Also, who coaches Katia Shpilband?

I believe Katia Shpilband works with both Theresa McKendry in MI (Canton) and Rafael Arutunian in CA.

I was thinking of all the reports of morozov leaving his kid with whoever he was with at that time...

Igor does part of his daughter's choroegraphy (everything but her jumps, I think I read somewhere). She is not coached by her parents (I think in the same article they felt it wouldn't be for the best).

BTW, aren't Zoueva and Johnny Johns a couple now?

How would this impact things if he were the new technical coach she suggests to replace Igor? He is a US pairs and dance champion in the 70's.

Get rid of Igor, take his pupils and give your boyfriend a better job.....sounds so well choreographed.

Shpilband wanted to start his own coaching business, and it created a conflict of interests, says Marina Zoueva - http://www.rsport.ru/figure_skating/20120604/599672867.html

She adds that their working relationship is not over yet, they could start again - "nothing is impossible"

"Now there is a conflict of interests. Igor decided to have his own pupils without my consent, to train them separately from me. I have a very certain position on this question - it's a conflict of interests."

She also says that the students they train together (among which are Worlds bronze medalists Shibutani/Shibutani) are not involved in it: "It is not about the business we have together. He just decided to start his own business inside our business. That's what conflict of interests is. It is a professionally wrong idea to have separate business".

She doesn't see a problem that their break-up took place two years before the Olympics: "It's better than two months before. Although I think one year and a half could have waited, but oh well".

She doesn't know yet how they are going to decide who gets which team in this break-up: "It will fully depend on the skaters themselves".

I wonder if Igor and Marina as single coaches will have the same politicial clout that they did as a team. They could be underestimating that aspect, especially if their top teams move on as a result of their feuding.

Move on to where?

Move on to where?

Different coaches, I would assume.

Mom and Dad are getting a D.I.V.O.R.C.E. Dad got kicked out of the house. Who will get custody of the children? :drama: Even better, who will pay whom alimony? It's a bitch dividing those assets.

I meant, "to whom"?

I meant, "to whom"?

I'd love to see Tessa and Scott get some uber-voidy choreography from Christopher Dean. He's an amazing choregrapher, and Tessa and Scott could do much more with him than Paul and Piper can. (nothing against them)

I really don't know. There aren't a lot of clear choices out there. I do think that Krylova would take V/M if they wanted to make the move (and, yes, I'm aware of how many teams she already has and who some of those teams are).

This can't be easy for any of those teams--including T/S and C/B, both of whom are being overlooked in all of this. I feel for every last one of those teams.

Just watch V/M go with Igor and D/W with Marina, just to mess with everyone.
