Getting rid of the current panel would get me to return. JLo & Randy make me barf & Steven is completely ineffectual.

Neil Patrick Harris would be a good addition to the show, but I doubt if he has the time to commit given his schedule.

Yes, I think I'd like him. I would also like Sean Hayes...he could replace Stephen. Adam Lambert was a good mentor...would he be tough enough to be a good judge? Hopefully we shall see.

BTW, I have tweeted Nigel Lythgoe several times about how horrible Randy & JLo are...do you think that had any effect?

I hope so!

I would love to see Adam as a judge. :swoon:

I almost don't care who comes in as a judge so long as they get rid of Randy Jackson. It has always amazed me that the one original judge left is by far the worst. At least Paula was entertaining with her drunk ramblings. Randy never has anything to say and has been on repeat since the first episode of the first season.

The only good judge would be someone who has nothing to lose. Anyone who currently has a career (or who wants a comeback) will do and say things to protect/resurrect their image. You need judges who will be completely honest.

You would think a record producer would be good at it but Jimmy Iovine has given some horrible advice.

Steven was the only reason I watched. I hadn't watched a full season till he joined the show because I couldn't stand Simon, and I will be happy to take it off my DVR now.

So did anyone watch the July 4th Concert at the Capitol tonight?

Phillip performed "Home" (video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXLvhwMbz2s)).

I'm not sure if this is his first concert performance since his surgery, but IMO he did really well. Compared to the last few weeks he was on Idol, his voice was a lot clearer and stronger (and on key), his coloring looked healthy/good, and he had great energy on stage, not to mention he seemed like he was having an absolute blast.

No, he is on tour with the AI Live production. Saw it at Joe Louis in Detroit. Phil didn't come out until the second half. He was great! ETA: He also played "Home" at the beginning of the AL/NL All Star Game and it was also very good!

Now they just need to get rid of Randy & all will be well. Depending on who they get. But just not hearing dawg again will be a relief.

The reports I'm hearing say that Randy will become a "mentor" to the contestants.

Mentor? Interesting. I heard they were replacing all 3, so I guess that would be a consolation prize for Randy.

Now, who else needs a career boost and is good at reading lines? *snerk*

US Weekly says Mariah Carey is in talks with Idol.

On the radio, I heard Will.i.am, Britney Spears (who would hire her after she keeps walking off X Factor), Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Adam Lambert, Elton JOhn. Lady Gaga, and Miley Cyrus are possibilities.

In need of career boost: Miley leads the way in that department, doesn't she?

Apparently Katy Perry has said she doesn't need that kind of boost right now.
