Allskate, I totally respect your decision to go this route, because you've clearly done it with thought, research and consultation with a doctor, and made your own decisions. More people should approach their health in this way.

Milk is not a natural source of vitamin D anyway -- it is a vitamin that has been added to milk. For those of us who must avoid the sun, and who don't consume mackerel or salmon every day, some form of vitamin D3 supplement is about the only way to get it. (I remember having to take a tablespoon of cod liver oil as a kid -- that stuff is nasty.) It takes a quart of milk to get even the RDA, which isn't enough to make a great dent in someone who is deficient.
