Ashley is an awesome skater, but she was so unpolished in 2008. And comparing her with Flatt then and now is SO weird. I think Rachael was actually a better skater in every single aspect in 2008 then 2012, and has slowly regressed every year since then until this year. Ashley has been the complete and total opposite. I think the results for 2008 Nationals were dead-on.

I did love that 2008 Nationals competition though. Who would have thought 4 years later after seeing that, we would still be in this mess? I think we're moving onto better years now though (I also hope that doesn't end up being Mirai's only big win in the end).

It is going to be hard for all the U.S women next year with only 2 spots. If I had to make a projection now these would be my odds:

Wager- Title odds 60%, 2 women U.S team odds 90%
Gold- Title odds 25%, 2 women U.S team odds 60%
Zhang- Title odds 10%, 2 women U.S team odds 30%
Nagasu- Title odds 4%, 2 women U.S team odds 15%
All others- Title odds 1% combined, 2 women U.S team odds 5%

^ Ashley still had better jumps back in 2008.

How are you getting these numbers?........

What does Ashley Wagner need to do to move up the ranks even further?

In my opinion she needs to put a lot more time into her sp training and of course at least the same time she used for her freeskate training in past season.

I remember watching 2008 US Nationals and thinking how crappy a crop of girls' skaters we had (they seemed to be young, immature girls on the podium). By 2010, I found Nagasu to be a joy to watch, and I pulled for Wagner, too. Still, I am shocked at those who enjoyed that competition. I cringed!

To be on topic: probably get more points outside the jumps and hit both programs.

Yeah, not that this seems so weird, but how did you come up with these numbers?

I'm willing to make a "Wager" on her.

I loved Ashley's grit this season at US Nationals, Four Continents, Worlds and the WTT thsi season. What a fighter!
