Until early April I had a pair of black patent pumps. They were also Cole Haan and I think they were five years old...they looked dated and didn't fit me well anymore. But for a long while they were my go-to shoes for dress...so, uh, yeah, I bowed to the consensus of two opinionated New Jerseyans and a bossy Californian. :P

And an even bossier couple of Washingtonians who wouldn't agree on anything else if they knew each other (one lefty, one righty) but both saw the dress and said...black patent heels.

:D Can't argue with a bipartisan decision. It would even pass Congress.

Isn't that an oxymoron?

It sure sounds like one, innit...

Speaking of shoes, I'm glad I waited on buying these shoes from Payless for le wedding (http://www.payless.com/store/product/detail.jsp?productId=69153) because I got a 20% off coupon in the meantime! :cheer:

The most comfortable pair of heels I ever wore WERE from Payless, after all. :P

 What do young ladies, getting married, do if they do not come to FSU for advice? I mean they can ask their mothers, but here they have access to hundreds of motherly opinions :D!

What do older ladies do when the black patent pumps come, are tried on and don't fit?

:angryfire

Too small in the toe, too big in the heel, the minute I walked off the carpet and onto the floor I started yelping.

Well, sheeyit.

I have a problem with very pointy toed shoes. I have freakishly short toes, so my foot doesn't taper toward the front. For that reason, I usually go for an almond shaped toe. Can I suggest a better style? http://www.colehaan.com/colehaan/catalog/product.jsp?catId=100&productId=383893&productGroup=383894

It'a a 2.5" heel with an almond shaped toe. I didn't check to see if they have I on Endless, but they do have it at Cole Haan. I have the same style in the higher heel and they are very comfortable. There is a Cole Haan at the Fashion Center at Pentagon City. You could go there and try them on. I always like to try shoes on. I don't order shoes unless I have tried on a similar style from a manufacturer. I always wear an 8 in Cole Haan, but can't get my foot into an 8 pointy toed shoe.

Just checked Endless, they don't have the 2.5" heel, but they do have the 3.5" heel. The shoe does have a .5" internal platform, so it would be equivalent to a 3" heel. http://www.endless.com/s/ref=dp_msr/?frag=1&brands=Cole+Haan&colors=519114011&node=242321011&nodes=242321011&sort=relevance-fs-browse-rank&showDesigner=0&rnid=519055011&clientPageSize=100#ie%3DUTF8%26cAsin%3DB003U63HL0% 26fromPage%3Dsearch%26sr%3D1-4%26qid%3D1338428305995%26asinTitle%3DCole%2520Haa n%2520Violet%2520Air%252090%2520Pump%26contextTitl e%3Dsearch%2520results%26clientPageSize%3D100%26br ands%3DCole%2BHaan%26node%3D242321011%26sort%3Drel evance-fs-browse-rank%26nodes%3D242321011%26colors%3D519114011%26sh owDesigner%3D0%26rnid%3D519055011%26asin%3DB003U65 F60%26ref%3Dsr_1_4%26pageCode%3Dd

I think, since I'm test-driving a car in VA this weekend, that that is a good idea. My beloved SIL, whom I adore, told me to try Anya Liu shoes, she bought a pair for her son's wedding and stood in them for hours. Then I looked and most pairs are around $400. :yikes: Way too much especially since I'm still anguished over the price of the dress and jacket...

So I'll try the Cole Haan and if I'm desperate the AL at the Nordstroms there. I'm ready to cut off my feet and grow a new pair.

You did us proud, Anita18! :respec:

PRLady, I am starting to get nervous about your shoes. I like what cruisin found--AIR Nike--so there should be no bitching about a high heal, pinchy toes, etc. The price, well it's a Cole Haan. However, they are classic, you will wear them for years, which probably means you will wear them about 6 more times since you hate heels so much. But you never know when you have to be interviewed on TV again.

Try them, my feet didn't recoil in horror when I looked at them and my feet are as delicately flowered as yours are.

What do I wear - I've just received an invitation to a cousin's 50th birthday party at the beginning of August - hmmm 70s and 80s themed fancy dress - any ideas? Other than Abba or the Village People
