I have real patent leather shoes that are not the most comfortable. They don't give nearly as much as non-patent leather.Sorry about your patent leather shoes. :( Yes, patent leather definitely doesn't have as much "give" as calfskin or kid leather, but it has a lot more than vinyl. My very first pair of high-heeled shoes were a pair of black patent leather pumps -- with a very pointy toe and a 3" heel. Just a bit scary the first couple of times out for a somewhat gangly 5'10" 14 year old -- but I sure felt "grown up" and :glamor: wearing them. :)

I think it's the little platform. My Cole Haans have the same thin platform, it makes all of the difference in the world. I think the cushioning gives a bit and allows the foot to spread. And, I think with patent leather the peep-toe helps.

PRLady, I found these: http://www.viaspiga.com/en-US/Content/women.aspx#/women/dress scroll down to "Persia". With the platform they are equivalent to a 2.5" heel. And they have the strap you like. They do have a stacked heel, but it is black and hard to see. Plus the patent leather makes them more dressy. Via Spiga shoes are VERY comfortable.

Going to Woodbury Commons with my daughter and my son's girlfriend on Friday. DVF outlet! YAY! They are pretty current with what they have there. It is all retail, no made for outlet stuff. And they are only about 3 months behind the department stores. The Theory outlet is really good too. They do have some made for outlet stuff, but their suiting (separates) are made with the same fabric as the department stores. So it matches.
The J. Crew outlet is okay, but most of it is made for outlet, not the same quality as the retail store/online/catalog. Cole Haan outlet too, all retail, and some of it is current in the retail stores. The only problem with going there is that we only go once or twice a year, and sometimes buy things we wouldn't buy, but the price is too good to pass up. That's never a good idea. We're going around 10:00 AM, and have to have my daughter back by 4:00 PM, so we'll have about 3.5 hours. With the amount of stores there, we will have to be organized!

Enjoy! That Nordstrom extravaganza will keep me out of the stores for weeks if not months.

(And those shoes are nice and I can't balance on that thin a heel. The world can be divided into people with bad feet and those who can wear almost anything....My shopping partner/friend the brilliant lobbyist is 5'2" and has the most terrifying collection of high heels you've ever seen. She tries not to say so but I can tell she varies between envying me the extra 4.5 inches in height and feeling so sorry for my limited choices in shoes.)

I really think what I have will have to do. A cheap evening bag which I will find somewhere, maybe at one of the vintage places on U Street, is all else I'll need.

Ooooo, those are to die for!!! I want now, lol

Now for the Vera Wang peep toes, they're no go :( The 5 1/2 was too big and the 5 fit right but hurt my little toe so badly it was almost numb and the top of the side/heel dug into my bone. Too bad because they are adorable and would've been perfect! So far it's still the Jessica Simpson pumps as the front runner.

I think your shoes wil be perfect, but I saw those and shared, just in case :). I never wore a heel higher than 2" for years. I always felt huge in high heels. Residual from being obese as a child/teen. Only about 2 or 3 years ago did I have the emotional epiphany that tall does not = huge. Now I wear 4" - 4.5" heels, just because I can . I do worry that I will, at some point, fall off of them and be very sorry . But in the meantime, let people stare at the freakishly tall 6'2" woman in the cool shoes!

Lucky, I'd love to add some inches to my height!

Now, fashionistas, I have another problem... Now that I've decided to keep the Jessica Simpson Calie pumps in nude, what type of purse should I get for it? It's a darker nude so I'm not sure if I can find an exact match. I've looked online for J.S. handbags but none seem like it would be an exact match. Does it need to be a nude purse? What else would work?

Which dress did you end up selecting?

I'm lame, I haven't decided yet. I figure which ever one will look fine with the pumps. Am I doomed to carry the pumps with me around stores/malls so I can find a match?

Refresh us on the dress. I'm not sure which one was the final, and I don't know if I can find it with all of these posts! And no the bag does not have to match the shoes, don't bother trying. In fact it is more stylish for it not to match. I have a small black & silver sequined bag that I use most of the time. I also have an off white beaded (faux pearls) bag that was my mothers. I used it when I got married and still do. It's older than I am! That is freakin old! A black clutch is probably the most useful bag you could buy.

Matching shoes and bag isn't very in right now. Besides, black you could get a metallic minaudiere like this: http://www.intermixonline.com/product/designers/kotur/kotur+metallic+stingray+box+clutch.do that would go with anything. Or gold-toned, depending on your dress. This one is obviously rather pricey but I just wanted to give you an idea.

minaudiere like this: [url]

Alright, show of hands. How many other people here would have known that word out of context?

Not me. :slinkaway

Is a miniaudiere something for a mini giraffe?
