I was about to suggest a light tan (make that a light spray tan). I hear you about yellow--I have to be careful too. So it all depends on what it looks like on you. Try it on. In the picture the yellow looks gentle enough but who knows what it looks like IRL. Perhaps order 2 and 3 and report back.

I agree with IceAlisa, number 3 is more sophisticated for a work event. The second is definitely a hot date dress. And number one seems a bit youthful or at least more casual, because of the cut of the skirt I think. I think you could pull it off for a more casual event for sure, though.

Meanwhile, may I suggest this Calvin Klein: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/calvin-klein-stretch-luxe-twist-neck-sheath-dress/3175691?origin=category&resultback=6111

Incredibly flattering for tummies. I have one in purple although like almost in every purchase, I had it hemmed and taken in a bit. You may have to as well.

Oh and I saw one reviewer complain about the bra--there is a snap on a string on the thinner shoulder strap into which you slip the bra strap and secure it. Very convenient.

And the price is right! :)

When we were shopping for D's prom dress, and had no local success, we ended up just ordering a bunch of dresses on-line, and that worked really well. One was perfect as a short prom dress, and another turned out to be great for graduation. I'm now a fan of that, especially if returns are easy.

And I found a few other dresses to consider for my event:

http://www1.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/lilly-pulitzer-kiera-stripe-dress?ID=585479&upc_ID=1106773&Quantity=1&seqNo=1&EXTRA_PARAMETER=BAG

http://www1.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/rachel-roy-silk-twill-dress?ID=594722&upc_ID=1155643&Quantity=1&seqNo=3&EXTRA_PARAMETER=BAG

Thoughts?I also think #3 would be best suited for your event -- for the reasons others have already mentioned.

ETA: and there you are. I never wear pale yellow, if I have a slight tan it might be OK but otherwise won't it make me look jaundiced?Yellow is a color that I very rarely wear -- there are only one or two shades (which are sort of lemony) that don't make me look very jaundiced. But it is hard to tell from a photo online how the color looks irl -- or on you.

And the price is right! :)Oh, I really like that dress! And the price is ridiculously low -- the better to spend the difference on shoes, another dress, etc. No sense in just keeping that money from helping boost retail sales, is there? ;)

Since they're not online I can't show them to you!

But the brand is Envy, and they have the same weird heel you see here: http://www.amazon.com/Envy-Womens-Silange-Sandal-Navy/dp/B005UV0CS4/ref=sr_1_39?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1336582614&sr=1-39.

I like them all but #2 being beaded it may be uncomfortable sitting down. I personally like #1 the best. There are so many ways you can dress it up or down & I love the fabric.

:shuffle: My not-so-hidden-bad girl likes that one the best, but it might be too much 50something skin.

I'm counting on IA to show up since she actually knows what I look like, but for reference purposes....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvoUtCTZY0g. This was last summer.

It's nice to know what you look like. Since the camera adds about 10 pounds, you must be tiny. And you look so young...you could easily pass for 35, as long as you don't introduce PRkid as your daughter.

Love #3! It's dressy and classy but not too glam. :)

Frist PRLady, it's so nice to see what you look like. Gorgeous! And you do look young! I actually think the yellow is pale enough that it would not make you look jaundiced. But, real life is different from a photo. IA's dress is also pretty.
Some good sale dresses at Saks - 40% off. Just sending you the entire dress section: http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/search/EndecaSearch.jsp?N=1553+306418059&Ns=P_306418059_sort Neiman is having a sale too. Here is their sale dress section: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/etemplate/et1.jsp?N=4294967250

I really do like the yellow one you chose, though.
I like the 2nd one too, but I agree with others, it's more of a date night dress.

I don't love the first one. The waist is too high and makes the model's boobs look weird. Maybe it's the combination of the deep "V" and the high waist, but I don't like the fit.

I'm catching a plane to Texas right now, bringing you noodle kugel as a token of my love.

I am not tiny at all but my figure is weird as I said above. I have small bones and I'm long-limbed so I look thinner, but I am really top-heavy and am carrying the extra five pounds all in the belly. Which fortunately can't be seen on TV.

Remember I'm wearing TV makeup, too. I don't look 35 in real life, not one bit. On a good day I can pass for late forties. In dim light.
