I doubt they will have a disco free and a disco exo, that would be... er, redundant. They must know that "Hallelujah" has gotten good feedback, that must make them think. I hope :D

Dude I actually thought the same thing. Maybe it Ain't No Mountain that's supposed to be the "new direction." Omg what if they do a full on disco next season?

I think he said about both numbers :D Just hope they try now disco and this direction will not be new in next season for them ;)

I love hallelujah, but IDK don't you think people might see it has too much mahleresque or something? Like you know, something that they've done before? Obviously music will be a big factor in whether people see it that way or not. I'm not sure I'm articulating what I'm thinking correctly lol.

You know, now i am not sure. I mean FF was something different for them. I even read some people like FF more then Mahler. But its look like hallelujah bring some fans back and this what they do the best and people love this. And if in Mahler i saw first love, romantic feeling with balletic movement, in hallelujah i see different interpretation of relationships between man and a woman.
And why if W-P could have such big success with romantic FD, V-M must not do what they could doing better, then all others? Just thoughts.
After i watched Meryl interview in law symposium (it was really interesting interview with some new things about traning and mental preparation) i could see difference between USFSA and SC. Look like SC respect coaches and choreograhfers and let them create there own pograms and do what they want to do, when USFSA conroll every step (and i think this is VERY good thing for skaters, who protected from having bad programs).
And i have impression V-M have more close and friendly relationships with Marina - they all time talking how good she is, when Meryl talking about this more like about buisness relationships (wich is muct be).
Why i post this? Because now i have impresssion, that after OG V-M stay to compete for doing what they want to do on ice and not only for judges like this. So i will respect any FD from them, because they feel they want to show this. :) Maybe its hard understand, what i want to tell, sorry.

Pani I totally agree with you on all counts.
Hallelujah is certainly about mature love and I almost wonder if they saw the video you posted and got the feeling in their beginning from that! It has the sensuality without the overt passion of W&P's program. The love is beautifully conveyed without being obvious.

My thoughts are that Hallelujah style will be used in the Olys .
The disco maybe next year.

Finally, they have always said that winning the OGM has given them the freedom to try new things.

Further thoughts after I see them in person tomorrow but not until the weekend. Am crazy busy on saturday.

A step back in time to a program that put V/M on the map:

I just finished watching it a couple of times and it still amazes me :)

Thanks Clarie - I do love Valse Trieste. I think the commentator (Paul Martini?) said something so important about V&M's dances. Some dances put their program out there ( I think like D&W) but V&Ms dances draw you in. I really feel that way with this one, Umbrellas , Mahler and FF. Pink Floyd I didnt see enough though that had its moments for me as well. Also feel that way with Hallelujah!

Yeah pink Floyd was prob my favorite dance of theirs. I wish that both Tessa and Scott as well as Delobel and Schoenfelder could have been healthy the entire season and competes against each other both using great gig

Hallelujah, the song
Honestly, which version you prefer depends on so many things. Leonard Cohen's rendition is about the poetry. Despite the rather extraenous production of the initial studio recording, it's all about those words given weight by this gravelly master. It's amazing.

KD Lang's version is also amazing. But it's because of that voice. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_NpxTWbovE) All that sadness is given a profound punch by her sensational vocals. I get chills.

But Buckley's version.... it just hits me where I live. It's everything. It's the lushness of it all - he's got the voice for it. That spare guitar actually accentuates every beat of the voice and every lyric such that the combination becomes almost unberably moving. Is it, at least, in part due to the sadness of Buckley's life/early death? Absolutely. But I suspect that if he was alive and still producing music, this would be considered one of his masterpieces. His reading of the line "the baffled king composing Hallelujah" is one of the great glories of modern music.

Hallelujah, the progam
Staggering. What I love about that opening is the finish and flow. Each movement is finished: complete unto itself (the foreheads meet; he clasps her one hand, he claps the other, draws them up, then to himself as she clasps them together, etc). But it flows. So while you can practically diagram the movements, they are so synchronous with each other and the music that you don't notice it. It's really like watching one being.

There will be those who deride it as a romantic program ("again") and I suspect that anything they do that relies on their connections will be dismissed as such. Oh well, not my problem. It's an exquisite piece of choreography that manages to feel both intimate (not only the opening gestures, but the way Scott practically caresses Tessa in the rotational lift) and still skated big.

funny how v/m have something that is so special (their connection, which can be portrayed in so many different ways) but if they play upon it, they're called names... yet other dance teams can have something special, use it for all its worth, and have that be respected as "their signature style".

I hope you don't mind me joining your discussjions. I am very new to this site. I love the way you all contribute such wonderful points of view. i am not a skater but I do love to watch T/S. It seems that they choose to dance to music that other skaters might not(possibly could not) skate to. hank you all for such amazing pictures and videos.

I'm going to the Toronto CSOI show tomorrow:)

Does anyone know what the show's policy is on fan photos and videos? Will they confiscate my camera if I take it in? I was hoping to take some pictures/videos to share afterwards :)
