It's been remade by many.

I got excited there a moment and started imagining a FD to Leonard Cohen songs and was humming "Dance me to the end of Love".

Thanks for news!
OMG, i always think why T-S didnt took Hallelujah? :D
Cant wait to see this new number. I think it will be a lot off moves from Mahler.

I remember an interview where Tessa said that k.d. lang singing "Hallelujah" at the opening ceremony in Vancouver was a very emotional moment and that listening to the song always reminded her of the Olympics (don't remember her exact words, but that was the idea). Maybe that's why they chose it now. Personally, I prefer k.d. lang's version to Jeff Buckley's... Anyway, the song is beautiful and I hope we get to see the program soon.

So much going on :). Thanks Shayii for posting the dance. I am one who favors K.D. Lang's rendition of Allelujiah. She has such a magnificent voice, but as the Jeff Buckley is the so called "iconic" one, I suspect that is why they chose it. I wish my sweetee and I could have gone, but it's just too far this time for a day trip. Whoever gets to go to the other shows...Enjoy!!! (and report :D)

Thanks. I don't feel they used the music though and not in the way an ice dance team could.

Agree with others, KDīs version of the song in Vancouver ranks right behind Cohen for me.
Btw, I don't really like the new exhibition. I hope thatīs not a hint of any FD to come.

if anyone is interested, 20 facts about Leonard Cohen's Halleluja.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/rockandjazzmusic/3833494/Hallelujah-20-facts-about-Leonard-Cohens-Hallelujah.html

what if they chose music from Canadian singers for the FD? just curious, who are the most popular musicians in Canada right now?

Arcade Fire, The New Pornographers, Wolf Parade, Broken Social Scene.... of course, that's from my bubble.

Technically, probably either Michael Buble, Nickleback or Justin Bieber. So you know, please don't go there V/M, or I will cheer for someone else.

I'm not a fan of the cover. I think if you are a big Cohen fan and heard his songs sung first by him you miss that voice and the feeling he put into his words. I wonder if this cover is so famous and loved because it's the first time many people heard the song so for them it's the "original". And that the singer died a few years later maybe subconsciously adds something to his cover. Or probably because Jeff Buckley was a great musician, and also composer (it's not like he's known only for this Cohen cover) + performed it (and everything else) so beautifully also live :)? Actually, I think that Rufus Wainrwight's version is more popular, although it's a bit similar to Buckley's version, and definitely inferior to it.

By the way, Buckley's 'Hallelujah' version was indeed voted as the best cover version of all times in one of the British music magazines (I don't remember if it was 'Mojo' or 'Q') some years ago.

It's nice that Tessa and Scott used this song for their exhibition, but, at the same time - it's been used so many times already (even this season, Carolina Kostner skated an exhibition to the same version of the song). I wish that they would choose something more original for one of their next programs/exhibitions.

They always used something original, so i am happy they took overused audience friendly music and hope they will made this in next season fr competitive programs :D

i think their music selection was very good - let's be less demanding on them :)

I think perhaps Buckley's version is more emotional and extrovert, while Cohen's, as always, is more a meditation on his relationship with God or spirituality in general.
Once you are Cohen lover, it is forever :)
