happy to see an other Cohen lover here. <3 !
Proust i'll listen to the other version more carefully, after all its a matter of getting used to a different voice, and then ill be able to appreciate it in his difference. :)

I'm not a fan of the cover. I think if you are a big Cohen fan and heard his songs sung first by him you miss that voice and the feeling he put into his words. I wonder if this cover is so famous and loved because it's the first time many people heard the song so for them it's the "original". And that the singer died a few years later maybe subconsciously adds something to his cover.

But a Cohen FD at a Worlds in Canada could be fun. The hard part would be narrowing done a few selections but Cohen´s words and his voice would definitely take them away from sweet and light romance they get criticized for but still use their connection. Take the direction they tried to go with their Latin FD to another level and could be quite steamy.

Thank you for posting those, martyross! and thanks also to ddtpdx!

So I don't think this had been mentionned before, went back a few pages and didn't see anything so forgive me if it has...

My friend is at the Halifax SOI right now and she's been texting me, and Tessa and Scott are skating two numbers, Aint' No Moutain and a new one to Hallelujah (by Jeff Buckley). It's only intermission now, but they skate the new program in the first half. She said it was amazing, and they wore costumes similar to their Mahler ones.

Thank you for sharing this info with us, mocha-ice! I am so excited to see this number! Had someone here suggested a while back that Tessa and Scott skate to Cohen's "Hallelujah"?

Here's a pic (https://twitter.com/#!/starsonice/status/196022962795724801/photo/1) of Scott (I think it's him) in the tunnel.

Thanks, Shayii!

I wanna see a video so bad! I've been on youtube a few time and nothing is up (not sure what I expected since the show just ended a few hours ago), but on twitter it seems to be unanimous that the show was amazing.

With respect to those who love Buckley's version, I have to agree with you. Cohen's original is special, and when it comes to covers, k.d. lang's is the best IMO (e.g. as sung at the Winter Olympics opening ceremony). She blows me away every time, for her incredible voice and the emotion she conveys. Here is her version of Hallelujah at the Canadian Songwriters' Hall of Fame induction of Leonard Cohen in 2006, with k.d. and Leonard embracing at the end.

What a fantastic Canadian song for them to choose!

That's awesome. I was JUST going to post that very version, having spent that last 15 minutes listening to every KD Lang performance of the song. Cohen, Buckley, Lang, it's all AMAZING.

For Canadian fans who live in or near one of the cities included in the tour this year, Skate Talker posted in the CSOI thread in GSD that the groupon ticket deal is also available to people in Winnipeg. Perhaps more cities are included in this deal. If you would like to go to the show check out your local groupon deals (signing up for groupon is free), as this will save you a lot on your ticket.

Lol you know what I actually think it is believe it or not. I just watched it three times and I think they changed the choreo a bit, Tessa doesn't roll on the ice anymore.

Wow there's been so much to catch up on. Thanks to everyone that has posted pictures and links to so much interesting stuff. Its been great going through it all this morning. My brain is a bit frazzled with all the changes in conversation that have gone on in the last 6 or so pages that I've just read  I've got one big mash up of Tessa and Scott going on inside my head now

I love that Tessa and Scott have so many wonderful fans :)

Sorry to disappoint you Shayii but I think the choreo may be the same, the person that taped it just so happened to start from mid-way through the program so they'd just missed the roll on the ice. I'm not all that fond of that bit either, I'm always thinking that she's going to take out Scott's feet and that they'll end up as one big pile on the ice

I can't wait to see the other piece they skated, that song just gets into your soul and never really leaves you once you've heard it. Beautiful, beautiful song.

OMG, i always think why T-S didnt took Hallelujah? :D
Cant wait to see this new number. I think it will be a lot off moves from Mahler.
