So I don't think this had been mentionned before, went back a few pages and didn't see anything so forgive me if it has...

My friend is at the Halifax SOI right now and she's been texting me, and Tessa and Scott are skating two numbers, Aint' No Moutain and a new one to Hallelujah (by Jeff Buckley). It's only intermission now, but they skate the new program in the first half. She said it was amazing, and they wore costumes similar to their Mahler ones.

Thank you for the report!

Can't wait to see the new number.

Oh thank you so much for this report, I can't wait to see this number! I hope we're lucky enough to get a video of it.

Here's a pic (https://twitter.com/#!/starsonice/status/196022962795724801/photo/1) of Scott (I think it's him) in the tunnel.

ddtpdx and martyross thanks for posting those pics, I wasn't exactly sure what a spiral was tbh.

Proustable I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say, can you elaborate please?

halleluja is actually by Leonard Cohen, one of greatest poets in music. so it seems they have taken a different direction by doing this piece, mature, spiritual, soulseeking. it could be a hint of what we might see next year.

Do you mean they are skating to the Cohen original or were you just giving the history of the song?

the latter..it must have remade by an other singer, this Jeff.

It's been remade by many.

I got excited there a moment and started imagining a FD to Leonard Cohen songs and was humming "Dance me to the end of Love".

If you haven't heard Buckley's version, you need to. It's amazing. He transforms the song, and given that his covers are generally astonishing, that this one has been singled out from his cannon is remarkable. I'd argue that his rendition is the iconic one.

a spiral can be referred to an other move female skaters do by fast spinning like screws and making big holes into the ice.
Proustable, were you sober when you wrote that post? d:

happy to see an other Cohen lover here. <3 !
Proust i'll listen to the other version more carefully, after all its a matter of getting used to a different voice, and then ill be able to appreciate it in his difference. :)

This. His Hallelujah is, perhaps, the best cover ever made.

Did Tessa and Scott pick this song or Kurt did?

Hallelujah! Perfect title for the next thread ;) I can't wait to see this.

Would be interesting if they did a Leonard Cohen piece next year, especially since worlds will be in Canada.

i actually catched an exibition program by Sasha Cohen with the same Halleluja and her facial expressions made it seem all so chewingum-ish that i switched to an other channel with a sigh of relief.
