Too funny.
And here's polka rap, believe it or not (very explicit lyrics on some of them)
bling Polka (this could actually work)

FU polka (this wouldn't, but it sure shows the range of polka expression

And here's some polka numbers for any skaters who don't want drinking and drugging and swearing polkas:

 Doris - the first one is a classic. I can actually picture a team using that.

Here's the Tractor Polka, which also might work

If you look back through Gilles/Poirier tweets there may be some hints in there because they made little tweets about songs that had me thinking Mary Poppins. Didn't put it together with the SD but that makes for an interesting and fun idea. Love that their team (coaches/choreographers) come up with these fun ideas. One of the songs I remember them tweeting about was "spoon full of sugar" and the other might have been "chim chimeny".

No. It's in ithyphallic rhythm.
Polka is 2/4 with 120 beats per minute.
But that didn't stop coaches from claiming a tango was an acceptable waltz rhythm either.

...but my favorites from 1992 were:
Rahkamo & Kokko non-Yankee Polka (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2ebPwftemw&feature=relmfu)
and
the incomparable Klimova & Ponomarenko (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N13-Xu7ttk&feature=relmfu)

I had never seen either of those! Of course I've seen the FDs of both teams from those Olympics, but never the ODs. I've been missing out, thanks for sharing those :)

You know that was difficult to use because most of the song had lyrics being sung...I noticed they had to repeat parts of the music over and over.
The definition of cheesy to me...

I agree that would work. I expect to hear it from some couple.
I think the SD will have a lot of Eurovision type music.

I hope in 13-14 it's tango!
Actually, it'll be the Finnstep (http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120229&content_id=26917584&vkey=ice_news).
I so hope someone does that Weird Al polka...

"Alfie" with lyrics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w2TeZw7FKQ
OMG I love Alfie and lovelovelove Lily Allen. :swoon: But I'm not sure how these lyrics would go with the ISU and audiences in general. :P
