New Years certainly won't be the same anymore. RIP, Dick.

Maybe his "death" is just a prank for his upcoming revival of TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes.

This is sad. Not only because of Dick Clark's performing career, but also because of his work within the music industry. He was a pioneer in many ways.

(And heckles, spare us the remarks about payola which I know you are just itching to make...)

I remember American Bandstand. He was involved in so many different TV programs over the years -- isn't his company behind SYTYCD?

RIP Dick Clark.

So sad to hear this. It hurt me to see him struggle to speak in recent years. He was a part of my life since I was a little kid watching American Bandstand .... I had occasion to meet him several times and he was so sincere and friendly - don't think there was a mean bone in his body.

RIP to a legend and a genuinely nice guy.

Oh that is sad news. I remember when I was a kid growing up and we would visit my aunt's house, my cousin Nita a teenager at the time would be watching American Bandstand in the afternoon and she made it clear that she did not want to be disturbed by her pesky younger cousin.

I loved watching him on television on New Year's Eve.

RIP Dick Clark.

Wow-- they just interupted programming on NBC to announce his death. But he is well known to generations of viewers so it makes sense.(i think)

(And heckles, spare us the remarks about payola which I know you are just itching to make...)

Are you kidding? The way he came out of the payola scandals smelling like a rose was pure genius on his part.

Did you hear about the new song "Dick Clarks Heart"?
The lyrics are catchy but the beat is bad.

:( what an american icon

I grew up outside Philadelphia and American Bandstand was appointment television on Saturdays. RIP

This made me look up Casey Kasem, our other eternal music shepherd...he's still alive but stopped recording new shows in 2009. sigh.....
