OMG Bobrova's back is straight!!!!!
Zhulin is :kickass::kickass:

I guess this is the summer camp they were planning to attend in Latvia. Ekaterina's back is straight up alright but it's too short to really "see" it. IMO their good future is in PC with enough room to breath through to the top since Sochi is real soon.

Upcoming rivalry with improving I/K would be a treat for Russian dance fans of course provided that Morozov doesn't let I/K showcase cheesy and empty programs:rolleyes:

Bobrova/Soloviev have very strong basic skating and are capable of delivering stunning step sequences. If Zhulin succeeds at packaging them properly (something Kustarova & Alexeeva totally failed at), they will be a force to be reckoned with in Sochi.

Everything non step just needs to be level 4 and step must at the very least be 3. So far whatever the basic skating skills has not been transfered to high levels with steps. Maybe it was lack of good coaching or just lack of talent on their part to convert good basic skills to high technical levels.

I agree with this
I also think that the packaging matters for Program Components since they already get huge PCS for what they're doing, good choreography and transitions should help them challenge the top skaters for podium places.

So they don't need a quad?

Yana Rudkovskaya (Evgeni's wife):
"So far everything goes as we planned: the baby will be born before the Olympics in Sochi, and, even if on my hands, definitely will be in the audience during Zhenya's skate. It's such an incentive!"

Some motivatrice she is :D

Does anyone know when will Russians have their test skates? I know that last year they had them throughout the season and the first one seemed to be quite early in the season or maybe even before the season started.

The first test skates for juniors are in early August. Then there will be training camps and "test skates" for the senior level skaters later in August. These are not open to the public and usually take place in Novogorsk.

The "official" test skates when skaters present their programs to the press and public usually take place in the second half of September.

Thank you!!! Can anyone attend the test skates and send a link to youtube? It would be nice to see at least some programs. Although it will be still work in progress, it is better than nothing.

I am really curious about Radionova. Will she be strong like Sotnikova, Tuktamysheva, Lipnitskaya, or will she crumble under the weight of the expectations? 2 seasons ago Sotnikova won anything there was to win on the junior level (and Tuktamysheva was very close second), last season Lipnitskaya did the same. Part of me is feeling sorry for any new young Russian girl who comes after them - it is like if it was suddenly expected to do well. And although they have quite a few good young ladies, it is one thing to be able to do all those difficult elements, but it may be a completely different to do it under such pressure at an international competition.

There should be plenty of videos and also TV reports on the September test skates. As for the "closed" August test skates, usually some reports trickle through, maybe a few videos and/or TV reports/interviews.
