Article/interview with Davankova/Deputat (http://www.goldenskate.com/2012/06/davankova-and-deputat-benefit-from-consistency/).

Thanks for the article. They are my team to watch. They were amazing last season and I'm hoping for an even better season this year. They look so good together on the ice. I'm pleased to read about their work ethic. I really hope it serves them well and they keep their eye on 2018. They have plenty of time to become a top pairs team.

Same here. They have so much potential.

They seem to be really well matched and have a great work ethic. I personally liked that they saw that their programs were pretty empty and are working on adding new transitions. I'm intrigued by their long program choreographed by Irina Zhuk! Nice to see pairs use ice dance choreographers.

If they do go to Lake Placid...it isn't THAT far from NYC....

I might try to get up there as well (I'm also from NYC). Do you know how to get up there without the use of a car?

I've bumped up the 2012 Lake Placid JGP thread for people who would like to discuss travel options and plans in case they are considering attending the competition :): http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showthread.php?t=82842

“After Junior Worlds, they rested a little, because the upcoming season will be even harder, more loaded than the past one,” noted Dobroskokov. “We did two new programs right away, using different choreographers.”

Nikolai Morozov did the short program, while Irina Zhuk created the long program. The skaters, however, aren’t ready to reveal their music choices.

:blah: :yikes: , I hope I wont see some more emptier program then
why do they keep flocking to Morozov, I can never understand his appeal

For the amount of transitions and choreo that you do, you get amazingly high PCS with morozov programs (see Ilinykh and Katsalapov)

Thanks Sylvia! I'm excited to see what Zhulin has done with Bobrova/Soloviev and Monko/Khaliavin.

Same. I love some of the work he's done in the past in terms of technique and choreography.
Navka and Kostomarov's 2004 OD remains one of my favorite OD's that I've seen.
I love Pechalat and Bourzat's Chaplin and Circus routines.
But he's also let his teams perform programs like Requiem for a Dream and the Zhivago Golden Waltz SD.
But I think that, especially for Bobrova and Soloviev, he needs to get them level 4's on the footwork and other skills. Even with their flawed FD, they would have placed 5th in the FD if they had gotten level 4 on all their lifts and level 3 on their footwork sequences in worlds.

At the first GP everything should be level 3 or above. By Euros or the GPF or as early as the second GP all technical elements should be at 4. D/W and V/M sometimes get level 3 step sequences but everyhting else is a 4. Only step sequence can be below 4 if they have improved. If they are getting 2's there was no improvement and it is the same problems just with different presentation.

Agreed. They need to start off really strong and get even stronger. Also, they need to work on getting their GOE higher which may be something that happens over time, but is very necessary. They should not be getting 0's and negative GOE.
I am kind of worried about them getting their levels with Zhulin as Pechalat and Bourzat were getting consistent 3's on their steps even as the season progressed. I hope he can figure out how to get the magic level 4's. (Or else I hope that the Russian fed pays Igor enough to get his magic COP step sequence secrets)
I don't know if they will have a chance of medalling at worlds this season, but if they can get top 5, there will be a chance of getting a medal in Sochi. Otherwise there will be no chance IMO.
I think that, weirdly, the YP will be a good pattern dance for them because it will not allow them to have any hint of being old fashioned.
