I don't normally find touching stories on CNN, but the headline of this caught my eye. When I started reading it, I could not stop until I was done. This is written by a father of three autistic children. It is beautifully written.

The fear that parents of not only autistic children, but handicapped most live with. Makes you realize that not only alcohol and drugs keep people homeless.

One of the psychiatrists, who taught psychiatry at my med-school during the last semester, works with homeless people and told us that he estimates that over 70% of the homeless people he works with, have an underlying mental illness. The abuse of alcohol and drugs is also often a symptom of an undiagnosed mental illness.
