IIRC, the theme for tonight is songs from 2010, 2011, and 2012

(or, in Joshua's case, remakes of old songs re-released over the past three years :P )

ETA: And apparently I can't count backwards as tonight it's Top 7 :duh:.

Fortunately, I was able to change it before the Advanced Edit feature expired :D.

Skylar is going to sing us a Kellie Pickler song. All righty then.

Skylar up 1st with "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You" by Kelly Pickler. Pretty song. Playing guitar. Verses show she can do something besides shout, but back to shouting on the chorus.

Judges loved it.

It's not my favorite style, but Skylar did very well!

The chorus did get a little shouty, but that was one of Skylar's best performances to date.

I'm by no means a country music fan (listening to Lauren and Scotty last season gave me hives :scream: ), but she's got that inexplicable "it" factor and a likeability the other two were lacking in order to make it in crossover country/pop.

While I wish to god she'd ditch the Loretta Lynn/Farrah hair, her makeup was absolutely flawless, particularly for her eyes.

Colton doing "I Love the Way you Lie." This could be brilliant if he doesn't get all squeaky.

Colton doing "Love the Way You Lie" by Skylar Grey. Plays piano. Uneven vocal. Some nice parts, some shaky. Does squeak a bit on that note, you know the one. Pretty good job, but I was kinda bored.

Judges loved it.

Oy, Nasal McMarbleMouth singing "Love the Way You Lie," and he lives up to that moniker.

Although in tune for the most of it, the tone of is voice is cringeworthy - for me, he's like the singing equivalent of Scott Hamilton's commentating, complete with bowel-straining screeches :scream:, and his enunciation is (as usual) atrocious :wall: - back in the day, my vocal coach would have smacked me on the back of the head with rolled-up sheet music for singing like that..

I'm not where I can hear what the Three Stooges are saying, but I imagine they're lapping it up  :blah:.

Someone singing Goyte? Not "Somebody That I Used to Know," I hope. In the past week, I believe it's been done on The Voice and Glee. Enough. It's like the new "Rolling In the Deep."

But, alas, Phillip and Elise are going there. How are they going to split up duets with 7 contestants?

Phillip sounds as good as Phillip can sound, but wears a ditzy smile on this song where it's completely inappropriate. If it's meant to be ironic it fails. Elise sounds good as always. Good job by both overall.

Judges loved it.

Elise has always struck me as a bitch and this just confirms it... poor Phillip! He's such a simple, down-to-earth no bs guy and he has to put up with that...

Ugh, Gotye! I'm sick of this song already :scream:

:yikes: at the skirt on Elise.

Might earn Phillip some sympathy votes.

:yikes: at the skirt on Elise.

I liked it.:shuffle:

I liked it.:shuffle:

I liked it too. She sure was singing it like she meant it. :EVILLE:

The original is better -- I love that song -- but this was better than the weird Glee version.

I think P2 had his eyes open during that performance more than all of his previous ones combined .

Overall really well done, but Elise had the definite advantage when it came to vocals/style.

Put me in the camp that doesn't think Elise is a bitch. I like the fact that she doesn't behave like Princess Pollyanna Sugarcoat - it bugs the snot out of me when skaters pull that bullshit, and I feel the same way WRT singers/artists.

Jessica up next - I'm shocked that she's not singing Beyonce or Mariah.
